Medical Suspensions Report: Cain Velasquez Out Six-Months With Possible Broken Jaw, JDS Shelved Longer

You knew by the stains on the canvas and the blood on the shorts, that the medical suspension from Saturday’s UFC 166 would be lengthy and detailed.

Whether it was TJ Walderberg being taken off on a stretcher on the prelims to middleweight Tim Boetsch’s battered eye or the complete physical exertion of lightweights Gilbert Melendez and Diego Sanchez and heavyweight Cain Velasquez and Junior dos Santos, “UFC 166: Velasquez vs. dos Santos III” was not lacking in bumps, bruises and blood.

Most noteable was Dos Santos, Boetsch, and heavyweight Shawn Jordan receiving indefinite medical suspensions following the weekend.

MMAjunkie.com recently requested and today received the list of post-fight medical suspensions from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, which oversaw the fight card, at which Velasquez defeated dos Santos in the main event.

Dos Santos and Jordan require clearance from an ear, nose and throat doctor for a potential nasal fracture prior to his return. The report said that Velasquez is suspended until April 18 for a possible broken jaw but could be cleared early.
