Maynard Eyes Trilogy With Diaz And Third Shot At Lightweight Title | UFC NEWS
“Nate’s on a roll; I think he’ll pull it out. If he does, I know he was begging for me for a long time, but for me I was looking at the title and that’s a fight that would be a great fight for the title. I’d like to do the TV show against him if that’s the case. For me as of now, it’s about going up against the top guys. Like I don’t care about paydays, and stuff like that. Right now it’s about beating the top guys and getting the belt. I did a lot of work all the way till now and I’m at the top. I need that belt, and I switched up a lot of stuff to do that. I changed gyms, did everything I could, so when the opportunity happens I’ll be prepared for it.”
Gray Maynard tells mmaweekly.com that he would like a third fight with Diaz and a third chance at obtaining UFC gold.

when were the other two fights?
They fought once on TUF where Nate beat Gray with a guillotine choke, however, it wasn’t a professional bout, so it was never on their MMA records. The next time they fought was on UFN 20 where their fight was the main event. Maynard beat Nate by decision.
i feel as if Diaz is 2-0 vs. Maynard…. i thought he was robbed in that decision.

If Nate can win the title, and Gray gets another win in the meantime, I can’t think of a better match-up for Diaz’s first title defense (these dudes really don’t like each other).
Maynard is the real LW champ.. I still think they shoulda stopped the fight in his 1st rematch with frankie.. that said it would be a bad ass match up if Diaz and Maynard fight again.. but DIAZ goatt get thru Bendo 1st
