Maynard Enlists Marinovich Brothers And AKA As New Training Team

What do Gray Maynard and BJ Penn have in common?

Whatever it is, it would appears as if Gray is determined to increase that list.

In a report coming out of MMAfighting.com it was made public that former two-time UFC title challenger, Gray “The Bully” Maynard has finally settled in on a training home following his departure from Xtreme Couture after his last bout and his first professional defeat.

After traveling the globe and cross-training everywhere, Maynard has settled in at San Jose’s American Kickboxing Academy and now joins the ranks with other top wrestlers competing in MMA such as Daniel Cormier, Jon Fitch, Cain Velasquez and “King Mo.”

That’s not that surprising, but what did come as a brief shock was the Maynard has now enlisted the help of famed strength and conditioning coaches, Gary and Marv Marinovich.

The Marinovich brothers are most famous in the MMA world for helping BJ Penn through his lightweight title reign.

Maynard is set to square off with Clay Guida in the UFC on FX 4 main event. Will these changes see to “The Bullies” success?

  1. WoW. Good Move by Maynard no one was better than Penn when he was with the Marinovich brothers and his career suffered greatly when he left them. This might make Maynard become what BJ Penn should have been the best lightweight ever. Calling it, he beats Guida, then gets the belt and beats edgar again.

  2. lex walker says:

since bj n gray are friends i hope gray talks him into traing with tha marinovich bro’s(probably not hapening)

  3. Patrick says:

The Marnovichs style of training is cutting edge just from glimpses I have seen it would be cool to participate in some drills they put their athletes through

  4. James says:

Anyone know why BJ stopped training with them?
