Matt Mitrione Wishes He Would Have Fought Kongo Like Diaz Fought Penn
“It sucked. It was boring. I want to put on exciting fights. As soon as I watched it I thought, ‘That was exactly how I should have fought Cheick.’ Exactly how Nick Diaz fought B.J. is how I should have fought Cheick. Nick was aggressive and constantly threw punches at B.J. even if B.J. didn’t want to commit… Both of our performances — I think it was just a dull fight. It was just a lot of chasing him down. It was a learning experience but it sucks at the same time. I’d rather get my ass kicked in dramatic fashion than lose with the crowd booing. I can tell you it won’t happen again. If I lose again it’s going to be because I get my ass kicked in an ugly, ugly way.”

exactly, a lot of guys claim this “id rather get my ass kicked than lose a decision” yet they dont commit to flurries or any type of submission attempts that leave you in a vulnerable position if you miss….like PRIDE fights use to be. But yea he should be on undercards until he proves what he’s sayin.

What are you talking about you clown! have you seen any of his other fights. This was just a lack of experience and Cheick kept running away from him and not engaging and then used his experience to score the take down and a few decent shots. He def deserves to be on a main card and is destined to be amongst the best in the division.

yeah… kongo really should’ve sealed the deal with his powerful right hand. this whole card really sucked except for the main event. BJ PENN is the man!
oh yeah? and who did he face? shit competition. he faced his “toughest opponent” and he didnt do anything. there are plenty of ufc heavy weights that would show you how good he really is. he has potential but hes got a ways to go which is why they dont throw him in there with the elite. runaway kongo? they were both equally apprehensive to get in there and fight, that was obvious to any half wit, except for meathead **** riders like you. do everyone a favor and dont open your mouth.
People try to blame it all on Mitrione. Funny thing is, for 2 and a half rounds Kongo was running scared. He wanted nothing to do with mitrione.
Mitrione obviously needs to improve (like he said in the interview), on wrestling, take downs and take down defense.
You guys also fail to realize he’s only been doing this for a short time. like a year or so?.
If anything i blame kongo for the horrible fight. He’s a veteran, Supposed to be an amazing standup fighter, and he was running the whole fight.

Go down the list and see how many fighters lasted more than one round with Dias and you will see that BJ put on a very impressive performance…it was a stand up battle. BJ was rocked but not knocked down or out…in any of his fights…yup…sounds lazy….jonsey should be shot with his own shit.

cheick kongo is shit, he is meant to be a gun on his feet and all he did was run. there wasn’t to much more matt mitrione could do, he shouldn’t have been chasing him down and he also stuck to his word and never took it to the ground even tho he could have.
meh, I dunno dude. Mitrione looked like shit too; they both did. I don’t really give a shit what either of these dudes are doing next. The fight only proved that 1) they make a boring matchup 2) they are well below top division fighters.
