Matt Brown vs. Tarec Saffiedine targeted for December event

UFC president Dana White recently told FoxSports.com that welterweights Matt “The Immortal” Brown (18-11 MMA, 11-5 UFC) and Tarec “Sponge” Saffiedine (14-3 MMA, 0-0 UFC) are being targeted to fight at a December UFC event.

Prior to his fight with Pyle, Brown earned a TKO win over Canadian prospect Jordan Mein in a “Fight of the night” performance at UFC on FOX 7.

Meanwhile, the final Strikeforce welterweight champion, Tarec Saffiedine, is set to make his promotional debut when he takes on Brown. “Sponge” went 6-1 under the Strikeforce banner, earning the promotions 170-pound strap in the process. His latest effort saw him defeat then-champion Nate Marquardt at Strikeforce’s final show in January.

The UFC has events planned for December 14 (UFC on FOX 9), December 21 (a UFC Fight Night event in Australia) and December 28 (UFC 168).
