Matt Brown: ‘I’m the worst match up for GSP, I know I’d destroy him’

“I think he’d be scared to get close enough to hit me because I’m not going to avoid anything he throws. I’m going to step right in the pocket and throw down. He’s not going to have any option but to be on the feet with me. Even if he has the skills to stand, he would not be able to handle my pressure, tenacity and desire to win. I think I’m one of the worst match ups for GSP.

Everyone thinks I’m delusional and crazy for thinking that, but I know who I am. If I go in there the best I can be, I know I’d destroy GSP. When I come in against GSP, I’m going in to take the belt from him, I’m not going to play around with the world title on the line. I’m 110% confident, if I show up at my best, he does not stand a chance in hell against me. This match up with Thiago is a far tougher match up for me than GSP.”

Matt Brown has had a huge resurgence in his career ever since the UFC started putting him in the spotlight on FOX TV. Anymore, a FOX fight without Matt Brown on the card isn’t really a FOX fight.

The Columbus, Ohio native is apparently feeling that shift in popularity and as such, has taken to The Bleacher Report to call out the big dog in his weight class, Mr. GSP.

yeah right “immortal” Brown, GSP would dry hump him for 5 rounds to retain his belt. He won’t be able to stop the take downs.

  2. WTF?!!! says:

LLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL. You’ve been hit in the head too many times, Mr. Brown! LOL Better strikers than you have fallen, and there is NO WAY you could prevent GSP’s takedowns! GSP by pretty much whatever he wants. And GSP is pretty boring now. But with you, he might actually make it a finish!

  3. JiuJitsuJesus says:

This is pretty funny, and I guess status quo in the UFC now. He is only trying to set up his title shot in advance, Throwing his hat in the ring so to speak. Heres the problem with that. First and foremost he aint lying about Thiago Being a big problem for him. If he stands in the pocket with Alvez you can just cancel all this title shot BS. The second problem is Johnny Big Rig Hendricks. Who will in my opinion end the reign of the Canadian Blanket with a nasty Left. So, that said maybe we might end up seeing a hump fest with Brown and GSP but it most likely wont be a title shot.

I’m pretty tired of wasting my $ on George “Safe”Pierre’s fights. The only way I would order one of his so called fights is if he Manned Up and took the Spider’s challenge. But we all know he wouldn’t accept. He’s on his knees praying Weidman will beat him,so he won’t have to.What a chump. If I was GSP I would publicly call his ass out.

  5. Dddddddd says:

I feel this is a bad match both ways. Obviously there’s that risk in getting in on Thiago but there’s also that possibility that brown might be able to grind one out. If Thiago is suppressed in style he resorts to two or three shot ending combos wich I could see him overcommitting and getting taken down again and again. If Brown can do it without getting nuked I could see him makin it nasty and killing his spirit. Crazy Match.

I don’t think Brown has ever even won against top competition…?
