Mark Munoz could possibly be sidelined for a year with foot injury | UFC News

By: Chris Taylor
Top 10 middleweight Mark Munoz is coming off arguably the most lopsided beating of 2012, when he suffered a KO loss to top contender Chris Weidman at UFC on FUEL TV this past July. Since then, news hasn’t gotten any better for the “Filipino Wrecking Machine”, as he recently revealed that he may be out of action for some time.
Munoz apparently suffured a foot injury while training for the Weidman fight and depending on the severity of the injury, he could potentially miss up to a full calander year. Here is what Mark had to say:
“I hurt my foot training for the Weidman fight; I was training with Jason (Miller) inside the cage and my foot got caught. I am not sure if it is broken. I will be getting an official MRI tomorrow and I will know. I just hope they do not have to break it in order for it to heal properly as it has somewhat started to heal.”
Tough news for one of the nicest guys in MMA, who is already coming off what has to be the worst loss of his career. He is likely to be sidelined at the very least for the remainder of 2012. Hopefully the injury is not to serious and Mark is able to return to the octagon in the near future.
Potential matches against the likes of Alan Belcher, Tim Boetsch, Brian Stann or Hector Lombard could await the “Filipino Wrecking Machine” upon his return.

My team, Chargers, Best WR broke his ankle in the 2nd preseason game… the mans projected to be out for 8weeks.
i know an ankle is not a foot, but i am sure he healing process is quite similar.
GET BETTER YOU ****ING WRECKING MACHINE.
Chris leben vs hector Lombard!
Would love to see that fight. And it makes some sense too.
Thanks! I was reading all of this and just thought I should mention TheM Two fighting! I would think it would be either KOFTN or FOTN. It needs to happen in december when the crippled is back!
That’s a sick fight for sure.leben and boetsch would be good to but leben is coming off of a loss so I don’t think that will happen.
That fight would be awesome. It makes sense to with both guys coming off a loss.
I hate to hear that. I broke my ankle a year and a half ago and I haven’t been 70 percent since. I feel for you Mark. I wish you the best.
Leben vs. Lombard would be great!!!!!!!
Lol now he says this? I think he’s scared cause Lombard called him out on twitter.
Munoz seems like a really nice guy, but I think he’s over the hill. His performance against Weidman wasn’t one worthy of a topcontender. Because of that really bad performance Weidman actually thinks he’s in the mix at the top now.
