Mark Hunt Calls Out Alistair Overeem | UFC NEWS
“If they’d like to get me a fight I’d like to get a rematch with Alistair Overeem, you know, when he comes back from his injury or from whatever, his hiatus. You know? I’d like to have my rematch with him. I’d be willing to fight next year so it doesn’t matter. If he gets a title shot, that’s good on him, so.”

I was wondering where mark Hunt had been lately.
I doubt the UFC would let Hunt anywhere near RoidaReem. This would be a great stand up slugfest, id love to see Hunt KO Reem.

That would be a nice warm-up fight for Overeem. Mark Hunt is not that bad, but he is no match for The Reem. Nobody is, except JDS maybe.
Hunt definitely could ko the reem.. but he’d probably get taken down and submitted. This fight will never happen because its not marketable, its a lose-lose for the ufc and overeem. Real mma fans would love to see it, but noone knows who Hunt is except the hardcore fans
Reem would smash hunt standing. No doubt about it. Just because you hit hard doesn’t mean you are a good striker.

Yes ofcourse he can land a punch and ko him, but he has that chance against any fighter. But just by judging the overall skill level I’d have to go with Overeem.

Not marketable?… It’s a rematch, of course it’s marketable. The marketing angle IS the fact it’s a rematch. It also helps UFC show it’s relavence in MMA history by referencing the Pride days which also works as a ego boost for UFC cuz they get to flex and take “pride” in the fact they bought Pride and have their full video archive at their disposal.
Is it a headline fight?…by no means.
Lose-lose for the ufc?.. They’re willing to sacrifice jones or Silva’s or gsp’s legacy in a super fight. Where’s the lose-lose?
Reem would straight demo hunt. Demo as in Reem would demolish Hunt in a demonstrative fashion. #demolitionman
+1 Hunt has come A LONG way dice their first meeting, but so has Alistair. It’s definitely a marketable fight, just not one that holds any relevance right now due to the disparity in the rankings between Hunt and Alistair.
People saying that mark wont be able to stand and trade with reem cracks me the f-uck up!! 1st off it would be a rematch and if you saw the 1st fight you would know how when reem fights great stand up fighters he always bitches out! he got luck the 1st time cause he could turn to his ground game with hunt cause at that time hunt was still new and had no ground game. My point is mark hunt would beat the shit out of reem in a stand up war, and i still say that mark hunt is the only guy in the heavy weight division that can stand and bang with JDS! and if you guys go back and watch how reem would fight the fights he lost, you would see that every time a good or great stand up guy would nip his jaw, his heart goes out the window and he just gives up, he did it with chuck liddle and a lot of other fighters he was beating at 1st but ended up losing du to having no heart! JDS or HUNT would beat the shit out of him!!

Ha Ha mark hunts the man.I actually just watched the fight with him and wanderlei on my pride shockwave collection.He always brings it in a fight.I think he got injured?Thats why he was out for a while.I don’t think the UFC would make this fight tho,it’s not that marketable.I think it would be nice tho for the hardcore fans.Hes been on a tear lately too but the UFC needs to start giving him some top tier heavyweights and maybe allistar could be the one?Everybody knows tho that the reem won’t stand with him….AGAIN!

In 2001 by a fluke. It was a huge upset for a reason.
If you pay attention to all of Mark Hunts losses he was winning all those fights including Overeem, Fedor ect and ended up getting caught and lost. That tells me he has the skills to win. Except for the Manhove(spelling) fight he was pretty much winning all those fights he lost and ended up getting “caught”. He reminds me of Chael sonnen in the sense of their losses. Winning the whole fight then getting “caught”(no excuses). It tells me that he is way better than his record shows.
With that said Mark Hunt is a way better striker than Overeem. Overeem is a good striker but not vs a guy like Mark. When they fought the first time when Overeem was smaller and quicker Mark still dominated the stand up. Now that Overeem is much bigger and wayyy more slower and stiffer I can see Mark Knocking him out. Not to mention Mark has improved his takedown defense and stand up.
I always put money on UFC fights. Let me know your email so I can contact you if this fight is ever(which I doubt) put together soon. I would love to bet money on Mark.
I got not beef with hunt I think his stand up is great but this is mma bro and his record speaks for it’s self and I know everyone will say records do not tell the full story of wars and all that but his record is 8-7 and Gegard Mousasi beat him enough said but he is entertaining and it was great to see Kongo get ko’ed Kongo might be the dirtiest fighter I’ve ever seen
For all those saying mark hunts k-1 grand prix was a fluke, Overeem probably had the best luck in his grand prix route to victory. No way he would win again. As for mma, Reem would have no problem with hunt. Overeem would have a problem with Cain, JDS, and Cormier. Hunt would have a problem with anyone that has a solid ground game.
