Makovsky gets the nod to face Jorgensen next week at UFC on FOX 9
Scott Jorgensen has an opponent.
Days after an injury forced John Dodson off next week’s UFC on Fox 9 a former Bellator champion and current RFA flyweight king got the call to take on Jorgensen.
Zach Makovsky (pictured) received the nod, as it was first reported by MMA Weekly on Wednesday. Makovsky (16-4) is just two weeks off from beating Matt Manzanares that earned him the vacant RFA 125-pound title. Bellator released Makovsky in 2012. Since then he has picked up wins over Claudio Ledesma and Manzanares.
Jorgensen (14-7) was originally tabbed to fight Ian McCall then Dodson. Jorgensen opened his UFC career with wins over Jeff Curran and Ken Stone but has since gone just 1-3, with the losses coming against tough bantamweights Urijah Faber, Eddie Wineland and Renan Barao.
