Machida: Glover Teixeira Can Beat Jon Jones

“I believe Glover is the next champion. I don’t see anyone in the light heavyweight division to stop Glover Teixeira. Not even Jon Jones. We train together for a long time. To do well against him, you really, really need to know what you’re doing. He’s too strong for this division. He’s a heavyweight, and he’s durable. He will hurt you for five rounds.”

In tonight’s UFC Fight Night 28 main event Glover Teixeira will look to cement himself as a title challenger with a win over Ryan Bader.

His longtime training partner and former UFC light-heavyweight champion, Lyoto Machida, recently told that he believes Glover is the future of the 205 pound division and the man to beat Jon Jones.

i guess machida gave up on jones? i hope glover beats jones but idk man. Jones is also a heavyweight pretty much. His reach and wrestling will make it very hard for glover to do much. U never know tho until they fight. We will see how glover performs tonight. If hes anywhere close to jones level he should demolish bader tonight.

Bader is finished, and Machida should fight Anderson Silva at 185, or even 205 if they both prefer that. Either way, their styles demand a match up for the fans. Why this fight has not happened yet is beyond my understanding. I know they train together and are friends, but money talks at the end of the day. Come on Dana? ~Bob’O
