Flyweights Louis Gaudinot and Tim Elliott Set to do Battle at UFC 164 in Milwaukee

By JAKE CHASTAIN

| UFC officials today announced that a featherweight bout between Louis Gaudinot (6-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC) and Tim Elliott (9-3-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) was scheduled for UFC 164 in Milwaukee at the Bradley Center on August 31st.

It has not yet been announced whether Gaudinot vs Elliot will air on the prelims or PPV portion of the fight card.

Elliott is currently ranked #19 in world flyweight contention in the UFC’s rankings (as of 6/9/13). Gaudinot is ranked #25 in the flyweight contention ladder. However, these rankings shift drastically after each fight card and a win for either men could catapult them into the top 15, depending on how the fight goes down. This should be a very good, competitive scrap and a fun fight to watch.

Gaudinot is coming off of a loss to Johnny Bedford, which snapped a four-fight winning streak. Gaudinot, though, hasn’t been in action since May of last year due to injuries.

Elliott is coming into the fight riding a decision victory over Jared Papazian in December. That bout earned him “Fight of the Night” honors. Prior to that, Elliott made his UFC debut but snapped an eight-fight win streak with a close decision loss to top contender John Dodson. Elliott is considered on e of the top flyweights in the world but is looking to climb into top contention and prove his legitimacy with an impressive win over Gaudinot on August 31st.

The latest UFC 164 card stacks up like this:

Benson Henderson vs. T.J. Grant – for UFC lightweight title

Josh Barnett vs. Frank Mir

Clay Guida vs. Chad Mendes

Erik Koch vs. Dustin Poirier

Ben Rothwell vs. Brandon Vera

Tim Elliott vs. Louis Gaudinot

Nikita Krylov vs. Soa Palelei

Diego Sanchez vs. opponent TBA

Chico Camus vs. Kyung Ho Kang
