Tim Kennedy Believes The Strikeforce Middleweights Can Hang With The UFC's Top 10

“When you see guys that are vacating other organizations like Hector Lombard, you know, is there an opportunity for him to be brought over to us? Absolutely not. Nobody has even considered it. Of course he’s going to go straight to the UFC, and that leaves us with Jacare, Luke, and myself. The three of us, I’m pretty sure, we could fight, on any given night, with any of the top 10 UFC guys, and it would be a very, very competitive fight. As it stands, it’s the three of us. If I beat Luke, in the summer, and I have the title, what’s left for me? I guess I’ll fight Jacare again. Whether I beat Jacare, or he beats me, then what? They’ll have me fight Luke again? It’s just this painful cycle, and I want fresh blood. I want to fight. I don’t even think they’re better fighters. I just think they’re more well known because they fight for a promotion that wants to push their athletes. Again, I have to wait. I want that title. I’m whatever, 5-1 or 6-1 in Strikeforce, with a close loss for my last title fight. I think I deserve that title, and once I have that title, I really want to push to bring in some fresh fighters for all of us, not just for me.”

In an interview with Tap Out Radio, Strikeforce middleweight contender Tim Kennedy explains what he thinks is his place amongst the world’s best.

Robbie Lawler, Jacare Souza, Luke Rockhold and Kennedy all have a viable shot at making an impact in the UFC, but do you think they can break into the top 10 with ease?

Don’t renew your contract. It suck these guys have to recycle matches with each other because there is a dearth of talent in Strikeforce. UFC should have just swallowed up Strikeforce instead of letting it die slowly or made it into an all female promotion like Invicta FC. If you’re going to keep Strikeforce alive, at least get some new talent and management to run the thing properly.

    Bellator > Strikeforce

    • GET RID OF FITCH (forever) says:

The only reason dana wanted strikeforce is because he was pissed off because all the REAL MMA fans like us were really excited about the HW grand prix (AT THAT TIME) and it was OBVIOUS that strikeforce had more HW talent than the UFC IMO. Yes when you added up at the time (before Fedor lost) and dana fired Overeem to RUIN the grand prix they had Fedor, Overeem, Barnett, Werdum, Cormier, Sergei Kharitonov , Griggs, Bigfoot, Avrloski, Hersheal walker, Lavar johnson V. overeem, Brett Rogers a few more I can think off like the undefeated Ros??? that got in a bad car wreck.

Everyone knows Dana has so much money to burn he just wanted to destroy the competition just like he did Pride, WEC, a few other. The man is power mongrol who wants to wipe out all competition so he can keep his MONOPOLY

      • Ninja Oreo Dollop says:

If he just wants to absorb Strikeforce then he should do it. They have talent in strikeforce but few interesting match ups. I’m tired of hearing Rockhold complain about the lack of talent and Anderson Silva. It really makes his legacy as champ look weak when there is no one to defend it against. Keith Jardine?….. Bellator should just snatch up the young talent if the UFC wants to squander it. The UFC is already spread too thin. Maybe the feds are breathing down their necks over a possible monopoly. Or maybe this is a Showtime thing…

        • GET RID OF FITCH (forever) says:

Yeah I’m sure its a monoply thing and they have to honor contract with showtime. Dana hates showtime andthat was another reason he wanted to ruin their shows. Thats why they decided to not bring Melendez over UFC. showtime raied hell so dana promised he would not take gil

    • Blah says:

Instead of cutting fighters they should send them to strikeforce.

  2. Scotty says:

UFC needs to start looking at this shit like other sports.. Start dropping guys to the minor leagues(strikeforce) and adding the top guys to the UFC roster! MW division is lacking in the UFC and you have some great guys in strikeforce who could be moved upped.. Just makes since now.. Same in other divisions as well, there is no need to keep these guys in strikeforce especially when they can bring competition and make great fights!

Ya know, I did that interview, and I wrote the article. It would be nice if you actually linked back to the article I wrote. Thanks in advance for taking care of this oversight.

Too bad Kennedy aint good enough to fight in UFC. First punch in face from Lawlor he ran away and then did his best “FITCH” impression for rest of fight. Good luck getting into UFC imitating Fitch.

    • Lol says:

You’re a fool. Please just kill yourself, save us all the trouble of having to listen to your shit. You’re better off dead bro.

  5. James says:

I would like to see Jacare in UFC. That guy has serious potential

    • GET RID OF FITCH (forever) says:

I agree I think Jacere is alot better than alot of people think. He’s wasting his career in strikeforce.

  6. drew says:

strikeforce is trash…there doing the same thing they did to pride but strikeforce for some reason is still going…the only thing strikeforce can say in its history that fedor was ko’d by hendo there…other then that strikeforce has done nothing for mma.

  7. Dtrain_u says:

Sorry but your asking for trouble. Leave those UFC middleweights alone or there will be more bloody faces in your future
