Hosts Mitch Ciccarelli and Bryan Levick started the show off by talking to BJ Penn training partner Shane Nelson who will make his featherweight and organizational debut for Maximum Fighting Championships this Friday night as he takes on Graham Spencer. Nelson was a contestant on season 8 of The Ultimate Fighter and is focused on showing the fans in Canada what he is capable of at 145lbs.
Former UFC welterweight turned light heavyweight Anthony “Rumble” Johnson was up next and discussed his upcoming fight against D.J. Linderman at the inaugural World Series of Fighting event on November 3rd. Johnson also discussed training with The Blackzilians, how he feels teammate Tyrone Spong will fare in his MMA debut and a potential bout between former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Rashad Evans and current UFC middleweight kingpin Anderson Silva.
Nate Quarry joined the show and provided some humor as well as an interesting perspective into why he hung up his gloves and what it’s like being a single father. The co-host of Spike TV’s MMA Uncensored Live also discussed the idea behind Zombie Cage Fighter and how he has drawn interest in the screenplay.
Maximum Fighting Championship President Mark Pavelich came on and hyped up the upcoming MFC 35 event which will air live on AXS TV this Friday night at 10pm eastern. Pavelich never one to mince his words predicted that the World Series of Fighting will not last more than three shows, MFC will bury Bellator when they come to the US and also pointed out that the downfall of Strikeforce is a sad situation and is not good for the sport.
UFC on Fox 5 main event participant, UFC Lightweight Champion Benson Henderson closed the show out with an in depth interview centering around his upcoming title defense against Nate Diaz, how it’s been a dream of his to compete on the same card as BJ Penn and thoughts on Joe Lauzon-Gray Maynard and Donald Cerrone-Anthony Pettis. Henderson also spoke about the resurgence of teammate Jamie Varner and life as the owner of The MMA Lab.
Other topics discussed included the announcement of Jon Jones and Chael Sonnen’s appointment as coaches on the upcoming season of The Ultimate Fighter and their title bout scheduled for April.
