Lil Nog On The Injuries That Kept Him Out Of Training For The Last Year
Antonio Rogerio Nogueira has been gone for quite a long time. In fact, Nogueira has only fought once in the last two years, winning a close decision against top Light-Heavyweight Rashad Evans.
Unfortunately, “Little Nog” has been plagued with injuries over the time period, which has forced him to pull out of or decline fights with multiple top fighters, including Alexander Gustafsson, Maricio Rua, and Rich Franklin. However, he’s finally slated for a return against the surging Anthony “Rumble” Johnson at UFC on Fox 12.
During his most recent year-long layoff, the injuries were particularly severe, preventing him from doing almost any training. He recently discussed his absence and his return with MMAFighting.com, saying:
“[Johnson is] in a great phase of his career, coming off a great win, and I just got back to training this month. I will have a great camp for this fight…I will be back. No problem, I will be back…I was out for so long, right? Rashad fought twice since our fight and I couldn’t because of the injuries. But I will be back…I’m not 100 percent physically yet, but I’m getting there…I had two injuries. I had to undergo a knee surgery and had another back injury that forced me out of training for more than a year. But I will be at my best in two and a half months.”
