Lamas Joins Club Hendricks: Unhappy With UFC’s Choice of Pettis vs. Aldo | UFC NEWS

“I’m pretty upset about it. I’m busting my ass, I put in all this work and I’m not being rewarded. I’m just a little dumbfounded by the whole situation.”

“I thought I already established I was the number one contender. If Koch would have beaten me, none of this would have happened.”

– UFC featherweight contender, Ricardo Lamas, via “UFC Tonight” On Fuel TV.

I agree it’s bs but Pettis kinda got jipped his title shot. After his ko of Lauzon Dana said he was next and instead they rematched Bendo and Edgar. So in a way he got screwed out of a title shot by a guy who previously got screwed out of one before him. So I say fair play.

I’m sorry… but some fighters need to stop whining. Some fighters talk about if winning fights was the end all be all of determining a championship bout. Don’t get me wrong… you should be winning your fights and winning decisively. But the reality of the FIGHT BUSINESS is that you have to garner the fans attention. And while I consider myself a hardcore fan, going even to the local shows at the casinos and watching over sea events, hardcore fans make up the minority of the UFC’s income. Pettis has the potential to be a serious draw given his style of fighting and is a much more noticeable name compared to Lamas. Plus he’s making noise with his interviews and on the internet. Same goes with Chael, Alistair, Nick Diaz, Ronda Rousey, and so many others.

With any business (especially entertainment), you have to promote yourself. There are probably more qualified people that could do my job. But because they don’t do a solid enough job at promoting themselves and their skills, they report to me instead.

This isn’t the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, or any other sport. There’s no seasons. There’s no playing to become that year’s champion. This is fighting, a year round sport. Anderson Silva doesn’t win, they have to fight 4 people to be considered champion again. He’s the champ every single day until someone dethrones him. You want to fight the champ? Make noise. Go out, dominate your fights, be vocal about the bouts you want, and keep in touch with Dana White and Joe Silva.

Simply winning a fight doesn’t warrent you a championship bout, whether these un-charismatic fighters want to admit or not.

This guy has no right to complain. Just for the record I hate Anthony Pettis. However he has been screwed over enough since his arrival in the UFC. He has worked his ass off to be in the position he is in and rightfully so. Lamas is an impressive fighter but he will get his chance. Just needs to wait in line like everyone else.

Ya I really have never had a problem with Pettis and anyone who does is just a hater no two ways to go about it. At the end of the the buisness of MMA is pretty much as the will of us; the fans. Besides getting Gsp to fight Anderson, history shows that the fans once we vocal fet what we want. It just makes sense have the most devastating striker at 155 face the same type of fighter at 145, in my eyes Pettis is still WEC champion. Pettis has good ground game and so does also ? Do I see Pettis going for a takedown, possibly. Do I see this getting stopped by ko or tko most definitely. However if these two dudes prepare for 5 rounds also and Pettis are so good that it might end up being a point fest. Not that their trying to but Pettis and also are just so good that more when I think about it I see a decision happening. Oh ya and Bendo>Melendez not really even gonna second guess myself at all. Bendo might be unbeatable at 155. That dude enters the fight at like probably a tich under 170 probably even more. Bendos work ethic is awesome, his body type for 155 is perfect. Who at 155 besides Pettis has even a chance at bendo?

does jose aldo vs lamas even sound interesting? most people will say whos jose fighting? Ill be honest i didnt even know who he was until he fought koch and beat him. Its as simple as that really in the UFC’s position. Money comes first in this business as its apparent as of late. Its not about who deserves what anymore. This move still seems fucked considering koch and pettis are training partners and IF pettis is able to get past Aldo, then what?
