Krzysztof Soszynski (26-12-1 MMA, 6-3 UFC) will return to action after a year-long layoff to face Ednaldo Oliveira (13-1-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC) at UFC on FX 6 in December.
Soszynski last entered the octagon at UFC 140 this past December, where he suffered a 35-second knockout loss to Igor Pokrajac. After the fight, there was talk that “The Polish Experiment” was considering retirement.
After a 3-0 start in the UFC, Soszynski has gone 3-3 in his past six bouts. At UFC 102, Soszynski dropped a unanimous decision to Brandon Vera. His next two bouts were agaisnt UFC veteran Stephan Bonnar, to whom he traded a win and a loss with respectively.
Prior to the Pokrajac loss at UFC 140, “The Polish Experiment” had won back-to-back fights against Goran Reljic (UFC 122) and Mike Massenzio at UFC 131.
Soszynski now meets Oliveira, who made his UFC debut this past January at UFC 142. Oliveira fought fellow Brazilian Gabriel Gonzaga that night and lost via a first-round rear-naked choke. The loss to Gonzaga was the first in Oliveira’s career, promting the heavyweight to move down in weight class to 205lbs. Ednaldo has had 10 stoppages in 13 career victories, which include 8 knockouts.
UFC on FX 6 is headlined by a middleweight bout between Hector Lombard and Rousimar Palhares. The event is scheduled for December 15 in an Australian city and venue still to be announced.
