Koscheck on Hendricks | He Got A Lucky Punch Against Fitch

“For the record kid, I’m not a stepping stone. I see this fight as a big opportunity for me to make that run again and Johny Hendricks isn’t gonna win this fight. His fight (against Jon Fitch) didn’t really last very long, so I really couldn’t judge how good he is. I watched the fight and it looked like he threw a lucky punch with his eyes closed and it landed. This fight excites me. It’s kind of like the pride of wrestling. He was a two-time champ in NCAA. I can respect that because I know how hard it is to win the NCAA title. I’m in a new place right now and I’ve got my own Dethrone base camp gym for me. I’ve got a lot of new coaches and new training partners. Things are looking up for me.”

Longtime member of the top 5 rankings, Josh Koscheck took to yesterday’s UFC on FOX 3 pre-fight press conference to discuss his upcoming main card match against Johny Hendricks.

Is this just another example of Koscheck taking some cheap verbal shots at his upcoming opponent or did Hendricks really land a lucky shot in his last fight against Jon Fitch?

You didn’t get any lucky punches against Pierce. You should have another L on your record.

  2. danriverapv says:

OF COURSE HE SAYS THAT! HENDRICKS SMASHED THAT LEFT HAND ON THAT JAW AND FITCH FLEW BACKWARDS. JOHNNY HENDRICKS THREW THE LEFT, he didnt trip and his left had extended forward and hit fitches face, no Johhny gave it a shot to just smash his left hand in his face, simple enough, and fitch couldnt hang with the power… nighty night.
btw Kos i actually was a fan, and i thot u were very very stale in you’re last fight. even the hughes fight, your lucky he was old or hughes would have smashed you.

    • charlie says:

it was still a lucky punch. he just closed his eyes and swung for the fences.
saying fitch couldn’t hang with the power is ridiculous, considering the fight only lasted a few seconds…and it was the first and only punch thrown.
one could just as easily make the argument that hendricks couldn’t hang with fitch’s power…we just never got to see it.

      • Mo says:

I couldn’t understand your comment..please remove Fitch’s dick from your ass before you comment! Fan boys are ridiculous ! If I try to punch you in the face as hard as I can and I succeed and you get knocked the fuck out! That isn’t called luck…dumbass. And if Fitch could hang with Hendrick’s power…the fight would have been more than a few seconds.

      • GET RID OF FITCH says:

Must be CHARLIE Breneman Fitch’s TWIN lay n prayer. Fitch got his ass KO’d get over it Koscheck what a combo 9/10’s POLLOCK and 1/10 black and you get a weirdo freakoid that looks like Koscheck.

  3. m says:

Sound fighter analysis. Based on experience and mma abilities i would give the razor thin edge to Koscheck too. Pulling for Hendy tho. Like seeing new faces at the top.

  4. Jujitsu Player says:

My money would be on Kosh, the fight will probably be a boring as fuck though…..

  5. yeah yeah says:

kos will win this fight by what my friends and i like to call “fitching” or the art of landing one takedown per round and continuing to lay on top of them for the rest of the round

  6. charlie says:

i’m not sure how far his run will go, but he is 100% correct about hendricks. it was a lucky, flukey punch. but i’m also glad to see him acknowledge hendricks’ wrestling career. should be a good fight.

  7. Ninja Oreo Dollop says:

Kos is one to talk. In his last fight he looked like shit while Hendricks KO’ed the number two WW in the first round. Fluke or no fluke it could potentially happen again.

  8. Nick says:

    I’ll say 60% skill and 40% luck.

  9. GRT 3000 says:

so what happens with Fitch-eriffic in all of this? I realize everyone hates the guy, he’s no fav of mine either. but is he just done now? any news?

  10. Black Jew says:

The lucky punch comment is stupid, but I dont think people can argue Kos has really evolved over the years to try to be more than a wrestler. I think him training with new coaches and training partners could make for some really exciting fights.

    • slacker says:

Actually, I find in the last couple fights, Kos is reverting back to his wrestling, because all he has in his stand-up is the big right. He has no jab, he seldom throws leg jabs, never throws knees, and usually falls down when he goes for a headkick. If anyone could benefit from Muay Thai or kickboxing, where the striking doesn’t require reach advantage and precise measuring of distance for your strikes, but gives you lots of angles, it would be him. I see him becoming the new “dry humper” or “lay n pray” expert, as people like to affectionately describe guys who rely on their wrestling too much. lol I hope Hendricks gives him a beating and sends him to the back of the line into a gatekeeper role.

  11. MARV3L0US says:

That was a clean bomb to the face from a southpaw they land those from time to time. You can’t take that from the man and say it was lucky, hendricks saw an opening and landed a bomb simple as that. I’m going with hendricks over kos he has looked bad in his last few fights.

  12. A.James says:

If Ben loses does he get his rematch?

  13. Xaninho says:

As long as Aldo stays in the 45 division he will remain the champ, I just don’t see anyone at that weight capable enough to take his belt from him.
