Koch vs. Aldo Official For UFC 149 Headliner

Jose Aldo’s next opponent has been named and it is none other than the fast rising and dominant Erik Koch.
We speculated earlier in the week that this match up was a possibility, however the location and date came to question when Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen was moved from UFC 147 to UFC 148.
The two featherweights will meet on July 21 at Calgary’s Scotiabank Saddledome in what will serve as the evenings headlining bout for UFC 149.
Koch (13-1) (2-0 UFC) is one of few men who wont be afraid to stand with Aldo, possessing knockout power in hands and legs alike, Koch also has a number of submission finishes in his career.
Aldo is a champion who needs no introduction. He was last seen in front of his hometown crowd taking out Chad Mendes before diving into the audience in celebration. He has become one of the most dominant champions in modern MMA and is widely considered as one of the top pound-for-pound fighters on the planet.

Aldo by destruction.
looking forward to this matchup.
dustin and zombie are tied up and Haoki chickened out and for what its worth dustin is in NO hurry to fight Aldo SMFH aldo got the division SHOOK
I dont think Haoki deserved a shot imo…im glad he turned it down
I think Aldo by RNC in the 4th after 3 rounds of intense striking.
How to you come to the conclusion of RNC in the 4th, I’m so intrigued? It makes no ****ing sense whatsoever, surely a submission can occurr at any point in the fight following a mistake on the ground?? Am I wrong?
the guy states his opinion, and you bash him for it?? its his opinion. Maybe after 3 rounds of striking, Koch will start feeling the pressure and make a mistake, get taken down, and then submitted (RNC in the 4th). Does that make sense?? You obviously have no reading comprehension skills whatsoever.

Damnit I was hoping to see Jones VS Hendo live… what a letdown.
It may not be what you wanted but still a hell of a fight. With Aldo there is no chance of a boring fight, with Jones we’ve seen now that he CAN have a somewhat boring fight (thanks to Greg Jackson). Anyways smoke dat kush in Calgary.
Poor guy! Has to deal with the featherweight title fight. And those lucky guys in Sydney got a main event of Alves v Kampmann!!!
This will be a fun fight to watch. But more like a tuner fight for Aldo. Would like to see him matched up against Poirier or Jung. Maybe even TUF winner Brandao. They are almost mirror image of each other.
Atleast Calgary will see a one f the best fighters in the world, do what he does best and will just destroy Koch! Not to mention you have other good fight on this card:
Champ Jose Aldo vs. Erik Koch (for featherweight title)
Cheick Kongo vs. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira
Yoshihiro Akiyama vs. Thiago Alves
Get to see Akiyama’s last fight in the UFC! hahaha
Erik Koch next 145 UFC Champion!
You sir are on drugs. Greg lettman
Koch may surprise everyone with this fight. He has great stand up and is not known for being easily rattled. I think Koch will TKO Aldo late in the fight!
Never heard of the guy…. Hopefully his standup does.. well, stand up… but Its Aldo, and if we see the same Aldo we saw in his last fight, its gonna be a long and painful night for Koch…
Maybe a TKO in the 3rd/4th if Aldo doesn’t feel like having target practice for 5 rounds…
Koch isn’t ready for Aldo IMO. This division is way too thin..
I would like to see my man Aldo move up to 155, these guys in 145 ain’t got nothing on him. Aldo’s leg kicks are so devastating that I could almost believe he would be able to destroy Jones’s legs and than take him out
Aldo vs Bendo would be a fantastic fight! Does anybody now how much weight Bendo cuts for fights? That guy is a huge 155er.
THEY BOTH CUT ABOUT 30LBS..
ALDO IS IN THE 170′S
BEN IS IN THE 180′S UPWARD TOWARD 190…
Didn’t Koch lose to mended? Who got ktfo by Aldo? Lol
Who’s Koch and y not pettis or silver who the he’ll wants to watch boring ads Aldo fight
