Koch Confident: “I think I’m better”
On October 13 at UFC 153 in Rio, Erik Koch will have his day. EriK will square off against pound for pound darling, and UFC Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo.
Tatame recently interviewed an anxious Koch. Erik has been waiting patiently for this fight while an injured Aldo recovered. Koch gave his thoughts on the champion.
“He’s very good obviously, there’s no doubt. It’s just one of those fights I believe I’m the right match, the right guy to do it. I wanna fight him. Most people don’t want to fight Aldo. You can tell it when they get in there and fight him. They don’t fight him, they’re trying to survive. I’m going there to fight him. He’s a great champion, a really nice guy, but on October 13th I’m gonna take the title”.
In the past it appeared that some of Jose’s opponents may have been scared of the champ. Koch doesn’t plan on being just another failed attempt.
“People forget that to win a fight you gotta press the pace, you gotta go there and fight. You’re not gonna win the fight surviving. That’s one of the thigns. I’m going in there and I wanna finish the fight. I’m not going in there like: “well, I think I can get it on the decision”. No. I’m very confident in my abilities to finish fights and I’m gonna go in there and I’m gonna do my best to finish him. He’s good, but I think I’m better at some things. Standing I definitely see some areas he can be taken out”.

R.I.P Koch’s legs.
Koch is a good fighter, but this will be another victory on Aldo’s record. Aldo wins second round tko.
Goodluck
I’ve heard those same comments some where before….
I believe Koch will win this thing in the 2nd via KO! Aldo is a great fighter, no doubt, but I think that Koch’s stand up will catch him off guard. This is gonna be a great fight!!!
Aldo is the best unknown fighter in the world p4p only Anderson is ahead of him IMO can’t wait until he goes to lw it’s gonna be a sight He needs to learn English it would do awesome things for he’s career
I’m gLad u think that
Nothing new here. Everybody thinks they’re the best….move along.
That gave me a good laugh for a minute or so. We got a featherweight Weidman right here except for the actual title shot lol. Idk what all of the sudden gave Koch the idea he’s better than Aldo in any aspect of fighting especially in a division that’s been so cleaned out. Koch is a beast but he’s just the next guy on the top 10 list he didn’t earn the fight with a huge finish over another top fighter in a contendership fight he was just given it. I know that cockiness and confidence is necessary as a fighter but I’m just speaking on the real.
Anything is possible in the world of fighting especially MMA. I never write off a person because I don’t know how hard he has trained and prepared, and how out of shape the other guy is. I also do not know if Aldo is taking this fight serious enough. I don’t know, so anything is possible, but I’m so tited of the I’M GOING TO FIGHT HIM bs and I’M NOT LIKE THE OTHER GUYS, I’M NOT LOOKING TO SURVIVE. Give Aldo and the other guys some credit. They gave it their all and things didn’t go their way. Faber definitely tried, Mike Brown tried, Mendes did too, so DON’T give me the Bull.
BUT HE’S doing a great job in selling the fight. I’m going to watch anyway.
Who is this guy? Aldo 1st round ko. Next
Aldo aint p4p, he’s been in 1 weight class so no p4p title for him !
Wtf? jones is a p4p top 10, and he has been in 1 weight class only, gsp is a p4p top 10, 1 weight class only, jds is a p4p top 10, 1 weight class only,… Many won’t reconize it, but aldo is the p4p nr 2 fighter in the world.
