Kampmann Expecting A Stand Up War Against Alves This Friday

“I think I can win the fight wherever it takes place, I’m prepared to fight Thiago wherever the fight goes. I think I probably have a better ground game, but the problem is, he’s really hard to take down. He’s got great takedown defense and he’s really good at getting back to his feet anyway. It might be a tough job taking him down, but I feel I can strike with him as well… I think the majority of this fight is going to take place standing up, but I’ve seen Thiago go for takedowns in some of his latest fights and I’m prepared for that,” Kampmann said. “I’m very confident in my takedown defense as well. If he gives me a takedown, I’ll take it and beat him up on the ground.”
In a recent appearance on Sherdog.com Radio, UFC welterweight fighter, Martin Kampmann stated that he expects a stand up war with Thiago Alves during this Friday’s UFC on FX 2 main event.
The two are known for their kickboxing style. You can probably give the edge in power to Alves and maybe the technical advantage to Kampmann, but whose style will prevail?
Will Kampmann be able to get past the former title challenger or will Thiago’s strength shine through?
Speak on it Penn Nation, who ya got?

Kampmann has a tough opponent on his hands. But he faced the smaller version Alves in Rick Story and whooped him badly. He just has to survive the first round assault. Alves is a super powerful ww.
Niggger
I’m taking Alves.
I’m taking Alves
My boy thiago alves got this aint no stopping the pittbull
kampmann is underrated , 2 wins & he should fight for the title
Handsome dudE!(im not Gay, be sure)
what.
I think its going out on a limb to say that Alves has good take down defense. I know he’s been working on it and this fight will truly prove if Alves has taken his wrestling to the next level. However Kampmann in my mind has some of the most underrated wrestling in the division, he handled Shield’s take downs pretty good.
I just hope they both stand the whole fight and throw bombs!!!
I like Alves a lot, but he has the same problem as Guillard – super – talented, but not too bright when it comes to thinking during a fight.
Kampmann will taste a couple of leg kicks and then he will be shooting for that takedown.Alves by decision. Both guys are hard to finish.
I gotta go with Kampmann. Smarter fighter for any scenario that arises.
Kampmann is a kickboxer as well. He’s used to leg kicks. Probably smart enough to check a few as well.
Alves is done. I believe his operation has taken the best of him. I’m starting to realize that when these guys talk about standing with someone most of the time it means that they wont, so I don’t believe this.
alves has been shit since gsp..he is too big and cuts way to much weigh to fight 170….his performance aways cleary suffers from it…he need grow some balls and compete at 185 ..he has missed weight many times befir also
I think after condits performance I think the welterweight division feels te pressure to perform like FIGHTERS, look at the Sanchez v ellenberger fight, phenomenal! I expect the same with these two!!
