15 Comments to Just Scrap Radio | BJ Penn gives UFC 145 fight picks and talks retirement: “I’m just enjoying life” but still “training for fun”

  1. Taylor says:

Man I know I’m not the only fan wanting BJ to come back, but things are just plain boring without the Prodigy. Everyone here knows that if BJ committed himself, he could get the belt back at LW. I’ve tried to find new favorite MMA fighters and NO ONE can ever compare to BJ. BJ will always be the greatest fighter to me, despite the 8 losses. He is the complete embodiment of what MMA is all about. I seriously hope someone is in BJ’s ears telling him to come back. Anyone else with me?

    • DMAC says:

      I’m with you.

    • GRT 3000 says:

I’m with yah @Taylor…**** the retirement. He’ll have the rest of his life to shoot the breeze soon enough. Only a few years left to be the ass kicking Prodigy we know and love.

      • Ly-er says:

Of course it’s a bit ‘selfish’ of some of us to want BJ to come back already. But its true, a fighters time at his prime is numbered! It really doesn’t feel the same w/o the “Prodigy”, I want to wear my BJ Penn RVCA shirts w/ more meaning because BJ is going to fight! I’m glad BJ is getting the time off he deserves, but I’m still holding out for BJ to find that “fighting spirit” & return to the cage!

    • A.James says:

BJ is an inspirational dude. Watching him smoke Sherk made me hit the gym and throw on a gi.

    • WE MISS YOU BJ! says:

I agree with you Taylor. It has never been the same feel since BJ announced his retirement. Bra, I got all excited just seeing BJ’s picture up on the home page!!! At first I was like, “YEAH! HE’S BACK!” For a second I felt ecstatic and chicken skin was on my arms. But,,,,,,,,,,,it was too good to be true. All I gotta say is WE MISS YOU BJ!

  2. So good to see those two respect the hell out of each other.

  3. T-Bone says:

I’m with you too! Well said.

  4. m says:

Werd. The window to fight professionally in one’s lifetime is extremely small. And I for one, truly miss having the Prodigy in the octagon. There were a lot of potential fights that would have been fun to watch.

At the same time, I can see how BJ might be fed up with the politics and manipulation of being a UFC fighter.

You can’t force the fire. It will have to come naturally from BJ Penn….when he’s ready.

  5. MARV3L0US says:

Always love and miss bj fighting but being with your family and taking care of your body and not beating it up in wars is more important to your life bj so enjoy your life we miss you and would always want to see you come back if you ever really wanted no pressure we will support you no matter what bj

  6. The natural says:

I wanna no how Bj feels about Henderson having belt and not Edgar if that fuels him at all how come it this was never brought up but I no he’ll be back one day as a fighter u have to take some time off it’s good for u special after being battered Lil bit 11 years of fighting can take a Lil out of u

  7. EP says:

dude i respect whatever BJ chooses to do with his life and fighting career, but im fkn pissed he keps on sticking with retirement … i want nothing more than to see him back in the cage again fighting… he is the GOAT. hands down. PLEASE COME BACK , BJ. THE MMA WORLD NEED U BROTHER. TEAM PENN FOR LIFE * JUST SCRAP *
