Junior dos Santos thinks Overeem is a joke | UFC NEWS
Junior dos Santos does not mix words when he talks about Alistair Overeem. He was recently on a Brazilian radio station and praised his upcoming opponent at UFC 160 Mark Hunt, while blasting Overeem.
“I think it was great the UFC have scheduled Mark Hunt. I admire him very much for having accepted because he just fought. I admire and appreciate because I want to fight May 25 and this will happen thanks to him. When Overeem jumped off I thought it was great that the UFC came by with another opponent. [Overeem] isn’t a champion, he’s nothing. If he was a champion, I would wait.”
A fan of Hunt’s, but does not think too highly of Overeem. But really who can blame him? Twice he has been set to fight Overeem, and both times the fight has been cancelled. First time because Overeem failed a drug test, and second time due to injuries, either way it is no fault of JDS. He is willing to fight Overeem, but there is no pressing need since he’s not the champion.
That was not the end of his feelings on Overeem. JDS went on to say:
“I think [Overeem] is a joke. He is very big, he’s on steroids and he talks a lot of [expletive]. But I don’t care about him. He can go on with his career and do what he thinks is the best for him, I will do the same. If some day we face each other and he runs out of problems, we fight.”
Calling another fighter a joke is pretty good indicator on how JDS feels about the ‘Reem. It seemed after both fighters lost their last fight, this would be the perfect opportunity for them to settle their war of words. Unfortunately, injuries happen and Overeem had to withdraw.
UFC 160 is scheduled for May 25th at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. It features the rematch between UFC Heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez vs. Antonio Silva.

I always got a lot of shit for this but I always thought overeem was overrated,but not a joke like jds thinks.Hes a very talented fighter and a k-1 champ,strikeforce champ.But I think jds is talking from a personal perspective,cause how the reem said a while back that jds was afraid of him.I’m sure he respects reem as a fighter.I have yet to see overeems striking greatness????in mma!he was lackluster in fights with Bigfoot,and werdum and so on.And after the fight with Bigfoot made me even dislike overeem more with his cocky ass attitude and dumb ass smirk on his face.And I’ll be honest tho I think if overeem let his hands and legs go and just fight how he trains he would of beat Bigfoot.But his cockiness cost him the fight.I can’t wait till he’s man enough to fight JDS so JDS can ko him like my boy chuck did at the pride grand prix 2003,and Bigfoot.
He is overrated; no one that big and that skilled is a joke, but he is definitely way overrated.
He’s far too cocky and smug for his own good, and he seems to have a bit of a narcissistic problem that we’ve seen stem from a few other PEDs in the past (though high skilled athletes should be confident regardless, right?)
At the end of the day, Chuck Liddell was always a much better fighter than Overreem was, and if it wasn’t for his size I don’t believe much would change; he’d still be a mediocre fighter that had his moments but was never anything spectacular…

I’m not backing the guy just because he has my name anymore, but I’m pretty sure it would be safe to say that Overeem would knock the hell out of JDS with one well placed shot, steroids or not.
Then again, his defense sucks ass, and he doesn’t even guard anymore… So…

it is a bit weird that Overeem seems to be injured every time a fight with JDS is confirmed. I realize it’s high impact training and shit happens…but just saying, it comes off as suspicious.
