Josh Barnett Campaigning For JDS Bout
Josh Barnett is a hard-hitting heavyweight with an impressive resume spanning 17 years and a professional record of 33-7. While he’s made a name for himself in K1 MMA, Pride, and Strikeforce, Barnett is still hoping to show what he’s really made of in the UFC heavyweight division.
Barnett’s first run through the UFC saw him against greats and legends like Pedro Rizzo and Randy Couture and he held a 4-1 record inside the Octagon. Then he left the organization and continued to compete with other companies for nearly 11 years before his return to the UFC in late August, where he pulled in a TKO victory against fan favorite Frank Mir.
After his loss to Travis Browne at UFC 168 in December 2013, all has been seemingly quiet on Barnett’s front. Now, Barnett is ready to go against the big dogs in the division, and wants to start with former champion, Junior dos Santos.
Barnett’s manager, Leland Lebarre, told Ariel Helwani on yesterday’s UFC Tonight,
“To get a shot at title, you would have to go through Junior sooner or later, so let’s get it done now. This is the path back to the title.”
