Jose Aldo vs. Chad Mendes Booked For UFC 142

The UFC has set in motion plans to bring another Brazilian champion to his native soil for a title-fight of epic proportions.
According to reports, Jose Aldo has agreed to defend his UFC featherweight title against long-time number one contender, Chad Mendes.
UFC 142 is expected to go down on Jan. 14 from Rio de Janeiro’s HSBC Arena. However, the event itself has yet to be officially announced by the UFC.
Aldo will be looking to defend his UFC title for the third straight time. Prior to the UFC absorbing the WEC promotion, Aldo earned his featherweight title from Mike Brown and was able to defend it against Manny Gamburyan and Urijah Faber. Now the UFC champ, he has taken on and defeated both Mark Hominick and most recently Kenny Florian.
Mendes is an undefeated fighter who many believe has the skill set to dethrone the king. The Team Alpha Male member will look to succeed where his mentor and teammate, Urijah Faber failed and best Aldo for the title and bring it back to Sacramento. The chance to fight for the title has been his for some time now, as the two were originally expected to face off at UFC 133 earlier this year. However, an injury suffered by Aldo would postpone the match and rather than wait, Mendes took on Rani Yahya and beat him via unanimous decision.
No word on the bouts placement on the evening’s card but it is expected to serve as a featured bout in either the main or co-main event slot.

Would love to see BJ drop down to 145 and challenge for the title.Wonder if he would ever condider it? I know at 145 he’d be in great shape and when BJ is in great shape he’s unstoppable.
