Jon Jones Wants To Handle Unfinished Business With Dan Henderson | UFC NEWS
“[The UFC 151 controversy] affected me a lot, but I made up my mind to keep my eyes on the prize through all the adversity and remember why I’m here. I’m here to win. I’m here to be a great champion. Trials and tribulations are there for a reason. As long as things weren’t life and death, I just have to be grateful for it. It was a lot [to deal with], but I can honestly say that I feel like more of a man and a stronger individual… Honestly, I think I have some unfinished business with Dan Henderson. When he heals up, I’d like to pick up where we left off.”
UFC light-heavyweight champion, Jon Jones, took to the post-UFC 152 festivities to talk about who he wants next on his quest for greatness.
Originally scheduled to face off with Dan Henderson at UFC 151, Jones expressed his desire to rebook that fight which previously eluded him.

Wipe out the light heavyweight then fight Anderson Silva or move up to heavyweight. We need to see you fight the best the UFC has to offer, not just your division. And you need to fight younger contenders who are in their primes, not former champs who are past their primes. Cain or JDS would be good competion for you.

When you move up a weight class you don’t immediately fight the best. That’s a fast ticket out of the UFC. If he moves up he needs to move his way up to a title shot and get used to fighting guys that are bigger than him. That’s why I think it’s lame when people actually expect GSP vs Silva to be a great match if it happens. It’s suicide. They have to earn that shot at the title.

And mail my $500 already. Jones isn’t going to lose to Hendo (if they ever fight). Kicks are legal. Elbows are legal. No one has figured out that part of Jones’ game yet. Bring on Gustaffson already so we can see if Jones can handle a taller opponent with excellent striking. Hendo is not the answer to the Jones riddle.

if jon jones went up to heavyweight he would get beat by… junior dos santos, cain velasquez, stefan struve, frank mir, & big nog… he wouldn’t even be a top 5 heavyweight… in my opinion.

I can agree that JDS would beat Jones. Overeem would also beat him and Cain and Cormier would cause him serious trouble. But in no shape or form would Struve, Mir and Big Nog stand a chance against Jones. He would pick them apart.

I realize that Mir and Nog could submit him but I simply can’t see them taking Jones down, unless of course they would pull guard or simply flying armbar

You have to realize that Jones would be a lot different of a fighter if he was to move up.. a lot more bulk and muscle… the Jones you see in Light heavy weight would not be the same Jones you would see in heavy weight… if he was to move up I am sure he would make sure he was mentally and physically prepared.. a bigger Jones would be a more deadlier Jones
You say stefan struve and Frank Mir, but you dont mention the 2nd best HW in the world, The Reem!! All those guys you listed are bad matchups for him but the Reem is the worst matchup for him by far! Imagaine what one of those knees or liver kicks would do to JBJ’s lanky frame. look what it did to the human tank aka Brock Lesnar!

Not saying that Reem doesn’t throw heavy kicks, but remember Lesnar recently had his stomach cut open and 12 inches of intestine removed. I think had a fighter of even average power connected to his mid-section, Lesnar would have collapsed.

Other then Gustafson or Davis who else is there numbskull? If JBJ wasn’t in the LHW div all these so called legends beyond there prime would all still be in the mix. Shogun,Machida,Evans, Henderson,Belfort hell maybe even Rampage there all very good fighters and anyone of them could hold the title.But that’s how good Jones is he makes them all look the way you described them!

Most of Jon Jones bigger wins over the last few fights have been against older fighters that would have beaten him to a pulp had they been in their prime but he is facing them on their downhill slope honestly while he is in his prime. I would love to see him fight a younger opponent for once like Gustaffson or maybe one of the Nogueira’s would be fun to test him more on his jiu jitsu. If he made a move to Heavyweight his natural weight class I would love to see him fight Cain Velasquez or more or less get killed by Cain Velasquez.
