Jon Jones tells Cormier to quit talking and make the drop | UFC News

Last weekend, after defeating Dion Staring at Strikeforce’s final event, Daniel Cormier called out UFC light heavyweight champion Jon “Bones” Jones during his post-fight interview.

Jones, who has voiced his respect for “DC’s” abilities, says he wants Cormier to quit talking about a drop to the 205-pound division and be like Nike and “Just do it.”

“I think the guy is a tremendous athlete and I wish he would just do it and just stop talking about it. I am open to fighting the best guys in the world. That’s why I’m here.”

Don’t talk about, be about it! That’s what UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones message was to the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix winner on “UFC Tonight”.

Cormier has stated that he will “Kick his (Jones) ass”, should Jon successfully defend his belt against Chael Sonnen at UFC 159 in April. But first and foremost, Cormier will have to take care of some business in the UFC’s heavyweight division, as he is set to take on former champion Frank Mir at UFC on FOX 7 on April 20, 2013.

If this fight is to come to fruition, who do you see winning Cormier or Jones? Let’s hear it Penn nation!

  1. Jose says:

DC is Black Fedor and will be light heavywieght champion by 2014!!!!!

  2. Nando says:

Gotta agree with Jones on this one. If Cormier is trying to pick a fight, he should make the drop. It’s not like Bones is calling him out. Same thing applies to Rousey; she’s trying to pick a fight with Cyborg yet she won’t move up. Pretty cowardly.

  3. Lucas says:

I think Cormier in the 205 division can be a beast! Watch out Jon Jones!!!

  4. MrSoloDolo says:

Jones is way too tall and long for DC. I’m not counting DC out at all. But I think Jones’ length will make the difference.

  5. Dean says:

    DC Won’t get past Mir

  6. Sauser says:

I can’t wait for Cormier to lose to Mir and then for the UFC to give him an immediate title shot against Jones..Gotta love every fighter calling others out these days…UFC is kind of a joke lately with it’s match making.

  7. Oscar says:

Yeah I wouldn’t count out DC either but I think Jones has got this one. Jones has the technical abilities to defeat Cormier.

  8. Mike says:

^^ DC over Mir by murder. Frank Mir can’t take a punch anymore.

  9. insaneshayne says:

He is a beast, but he will not defeat Jones. There is no way he could get past the reach of Jon. And Cormier’s striking is strong but it is VERY one dimensional. Bones throws kicks, elbows, punches from everywhere!

  10. mean170 says:

I rarely say this, but Jon Jones is absolutely right.

  11. swithy says:

DC to beat Mir for me, Mir can’t take a punch, I would prefer DC to stay at heavy, but if he does drop to meet Jones don’t rue him out, I think Jones cardio over 5 hard rounds may be suspect.

  12. T.DADDY says:

Daniel would rag doll JBJ… It wouldn’t even be close… Imo

  13. Thom says:

DC is WAY too short to give Jones any problems standing up and in the clinch/on the ground, Jon’s leverage and strength will negate DC’s superior technique. At 205 DC is basically a slightly bigger, stronger version of Rashad but WAY slower. His wrestling is better but like I said, Jon’s height and strength will negate that.

  14. ronbo says:

he knows he cant kick jjs ass. just like he knows if he wants the big payday he has to run his mouth like sonnen to get it. he hasnt shown me shit. i mean really. he hasnt fought anyone???

  15. gsfg says:

im rooting for frank mir, but daniel cormier could finish it on the feet i think.
