Jon Jones: Rashad Is Ducking The Fight
“Well, Dana White basically needed someone to save 140. I didn’t necessarily want to fight at 140, but because it was Rashad, I said, ‘You know what? I would take the fight in nine weeks.’ I’m already in shape. I already know what I want to do. Rashad, predicting that I would say no, he kind of kicked himself in the butt because I said yes, he turns around and says, ‘Oh, I didn’t expect Jon to say yes. I don’t want to fight him that soon.’ So in reality, he’s kind of the one who’s ducking the fight. I feel like he’s ducking the fight.”
UFC light-heavyweight champion, Jon Jones is dishing out a dose of Rashad Evans own medicine now that it’s Rashad who isn’t able to make an appointment for a title fight.
With the recent announcement that Jones vs. Machida is set for UFC 140, Evans has been left on the sidelines once again and been forced to pass up on a title shot earned long ago.
With the ongoing feud between champ and challenger, is Jones just poking fun at his former training partner or is Rashad really having second thoughts about the match after seeing the destruction of Rampage Jackson?
Maybe that cast he has been sporting for the past two months has something do with it too…

Unlike Jones though, Rashad actually needed surgery on his hand. I guess a legitimate excuse is ducking a fight, in Jon Jones eyes. Seriously, this cocky little bastard needs to get knocked out. I just hope the Dragon is the man to do it, cause there’s no question about Bones serious talent.
Problem is Rashad is starting to loose his luster and Jones is in the spotlight now. Like Iceman and Couture, younger fighters are coming to the top and filtering out the old that are joining the Hall of Famers and reaching retirement. Most people will agree that Jones performance in previous fights before Rampage were pretty impressive. Bones is a pretty humble guy and just doing what all UFC do when they’re on a winning streak, take pride in their skills because they’re that good. Dragon Vs Bones will be a REALLLY interesting fight! Get ready Machida! lol
The reason he is considered “ducking” is because he said he would take the fight, thinking that Jones would say no. So Basically Rashad said yes, and when Jones said yes, Rashad goes “Oh… well… I can’t fight him that soon”. If you can’t fight, don’t say you can then back out. That’s ducking a fight

Rashad ducked Jones. Only fans of Rashad would say differently. a thinking fan would be able to see what Jones is saying. If Dana ever says Rashad accepted the fight AFTER UFC 135, then we will know 100% that Rashad is ducking. figure it out.
Rashad did not duck him, he had surgery. He had a ****ed up hand, got it fixed and it needs to heal. Shit like that takes time. he was hoping he would be cleared to fight but his doc said no. The only fight i see Rashad taking if its not with Bones is the winner of Hendo/Shogun. Since the winner was supposed to fight for the title after Rashad.
Rashad earned his title shot a long way back, but in my opinion he has a history of ducking fights.. He did it with Rampage after TUF, and now hes doing it with Jon Jones. The dude has barely fought in the past 2 years. After such long layoffs he no longer deserves a shot at the title. The title picture has changed while he sat around. Machida is by far a better fight and match up for 140 . I’d much rather see those two go at it than Evans.. I’m gonna be very disappointed in the UFC if Jon Jones beats Machida at UFC 140 and they bring Rashad in the ring for the 3rd straight time to have a stare down with Bones. Let the kid defend his title and enjoy it for 5 minutes before you throw an opponent in the ring with him right away.

Bottom line… Jones pulled once and now so did Evans… both due to injury. Fighters who train and fight at this level know how it goes… Jones would never want to fight Evans less than 100% and Evans would never fight Jones less than 100%. I wouldnt even have a grappling match with either less than 100% lmao. Its going to be a good fight. And it will happen. The UFC will keep giving Jones “give me”s until the best are healthy… Nobody wanted to watch Tito and Rashad go agian… unless they wanted to see Tito get demolished and that was enuff for me… but now its the same for Jones and Machida… I just hope the UFC really puts together fights the fans wanna see… not fights the fans might wanna see since we can get our guys to commit.

The ufc is a big company im pretty sure if you said no, i just had a fight and i really want to wait and fight rashad then could have found a solid headliner for ufc 140.
I really like the idea of the Machida fight with the whole story line of Seagal inviting Jones to train for the Rampage fight and Jones declining out of respect for his coaches. I’m sure they’ll play it up in the pre-fight interviews.
Ducking like a chicken , if there is such a thing! its to Evans advantage to have more time to prepare for this fight. he needs to perfect a change from the” guy”that used to spare with his future opponent. he has to be a different fighter to win.
