Jon Jones Pulls Out Of UFC 170 Main Event Against Glover Teixeria
There is not much information at this point as to why Jon “Bones” Jones will not be defending his title against Glover Teixeira in the main event of UFC 170 as announced yesterday by Dana White. Today Dana White announced Jon Jones would not be fighting on Feb 22nd against Teixeira.
“I told you yesterday that Jones will fight on Feb. 22,” White told reporters following the UFC 167 press conference. “He won’t fight in Feb. 22. He just pulled out of the fight. He’s not fighting Feb. 22.”
Dana White also said “He’s not injured,” talking about Jones, which makes more questions than answers at this point. The UFC President also stated that he believes Jones-Teixeira could go off in March. So it looks like Teixeira will still be next in line for Jon Jones UFC light-heavyweight title but we do not know when. White would not disclose why Jones would not be defending his title at UFC 170.
Dana White also indicated that UFC 170 will still go on as planned at Mandalay Bay, with a new main event to be named at a later date. So for now this is all the info we have and as soon as more comes out we will be sure to update everyone on the situation.
