Machida wasn’t training when he got the call to fight Jones, he had a mildly hurt knee. There is no blaming Machida for not wanting to be banished from his weight class by losing twice to the so far dominant champion. So let’s get that clear. Next thing, Jones is the champ, he fights whoever the UFC tells him is worthy of a title shot. If Sonnen is worthy of a title shot because he will step up in 8 days, then Jones has no right to turn that down. It is his duty as champ. This isn’t to say the whole 151 fiasco is all Jones’ fault, Hendo should have given the UFC a heads up earlier. Next thing, I don’t blame Jones for fighting Sonnen. I don’t think that Sonnen should be leapfrogging Hendo, Machida, Glover, Gus, Shogun, or even Rashad is ahead in my book. But that is the way the cookie crumbles. I would like to see Machida destroy whoever is next for him, because let’s face it, other than Jones, there is nobody in the division that I can see stopping him now that Shogun appears to be past his best years.

Jon is prolly right. Chael is a normal guy he just knows what sells. When it comes down to it Chael trains hard just like any other UFC guy. I like what he does in the UFC with the trash talking. I think it’s friggin funny as hell and brings in more entertainment. Rampage Ortiz and a few others have done it and it needs to continue IMHO.
What people don’t undertsand is that Chael is one of the smartest fighters in the UFC everyone says he is the nicest and clasienst guy intil they have to fight him because he only trash talks to hype up his fight.
