UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and IBF light heavyweight champion Bernard Hopkins take time to pose for pictures at a fundraiser for research on brain trauma in combat sports on Capitol Hill today.
There was a classic Hopkins-Jones staredown today on Capitol Hill.
But it wasn’t Bernard Hopkin’s two-time foe, Roy Jones Jr. – it was UFC light heavyweight champion, Jon Jones; and instead of facing off against one another, the two were joining to help raise money and awareness for the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health, who is researching brain trauma in combat sports.
The campaign was led by Senators Harry Reid, from Nevada, and John McCain, from Arizona. You can watch their presentation here. Also in attendance were UFC and Zuffa CEO Lorenzo Fertitta and Jones’ next opponent, light heavyweight fighter Glover Teixeira.
