Jon Anik to Join Joe Rogan in Calling UFC on FOX Sports 1 Event

| It was made public today that UFC voice Mike Goldberg will not be joining his longtime partner, Joe Rogan, in the booth for the UFC’s debut show and launch of FOX Sports 1. Instead, Jon Anik will be taking the spot of Goldberg to call the fights on August 17th in Boston, Massachusetts at the TD Garden.

As a result of Anik taking the place of Goldberg and calling the fights live Chael Sonnen will take his place in the studio alongside Kenny Florian. Many people were hoping to see Chael take on Wanderlei Silva on the FOX Sports 1 card but now with him working in the booth it looks like the fans will have to wait for the fight.

Fans have voiced their displeasure with Anik following the first two times he took over for Mr. Goldberg but as time goes on I have to assume that Anik, who has been calling the UFC on FUEL events with Florian, will only get better at the job and fans will start to become accustomed to his voice, much like they have with Goldberg. Anik, in my opinion, does a good job. He’s not Mike Goldberg but nobody is. Plus, with Rogan by his side he’s even better.  No reason was given for Goldberg’s absence from the event and it will be interesting to see if this is a one-time situation or if Anik will cover all FS1 UFC events.

The event is yet to have a scheduled main event but fans seemed to be really hyped about the heavyweight bout between Alistair Overeem and Travis Browne that was finalized for the event a few days ago. The card will also feature a welterweight scrap between the dangerous Thiago Alves and the surging Matt Brown and a lightweight bout between TUF finalist Michael Johnson and UFC fan favorite Joe Lauzon.

Don’t really care for Jon Anik,I feal he talks out of his ass most of the time.Goldberg any day,I like the chemistry between him and Joe Rogan, and a lot of times calls it how he sees it

  2. The Way Of The Dutchman says:

Yeah Anik doesn’t know what he’s talking about. It’s actually attention grabbing annoying up to the point I’m even contemplating on muting it. But then I can’t hear the rest either so I don’t.

    Rogan and Goldberg ftw.

  3. Not a big fan of Anik says:

Idk about Anik. He was cool at ESPN with MMA Live. But now, his commentating seems cliche, and he doesn’t seem like a real MMA fan. He relies on his ability to speak rather than speak from in depth knowledge of the sport. I’ll take the chemistry between Goldberg & Rogan anyday, although I don’t agree with everything they say. Florian does well and will only get better. Anik belongs on an MMA show and not at Octagon side doing the “play-by-play” or “color.”

I dig Jon Anik, but I have been watching him since he hosted the espn mma show, and he left espn because he cares about mma also has a passion for it that’s all I need to know. Goldberg is classic ufc announcing ,but the guy has called over 2000 fights and still is less knowledgeable

  5. Sean says:

Anik is sooooo annoying. His voice is annoying and he talks too much
