John Maguire Replaces Besam Yousef at UFC 154; Will Face Matt Riddle

The original welterweight match-up was scheduled to have Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson facing Besam Yousef on the undercard of UFC 154 on November 17th in Montreal.

Last week BJPenn.Com reported that Thompson had torn his meniscus and was going to have surgery this week (He had successful surgery and is rehabbing) forcing him out of the bout against Yousef.

Replacing Thompson was Matt Riddle who just finished serving a 90 day suspension after testing positive for marijuana following his Submission of the Night performance against Chris Clements at UFC 149.

Now Sherdog is reporting that Yousef has withdrawn, but didn’t indicate a reason and will be replaced by British welterweight John Maguire. The last time we saw Maguire he lost a lackluster decision to John Hathaway at UFC on Fuel TV: Struve vs. Miocic in September.

UFC 154 will be headlined by a welterweight unification bout featuring interim champion Carlos Condit and UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre.

Johny Hendricks and Martin Kampmann will meet in the co-main event to determine the number one contender to the undisputed UFC welterweight championship.
