John Lineker and Phil Harris Agree to Fight in Manchester
Flyweights John Lineker and Phil Harris were set to collide last Saturday as part of the UFC 163 card in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, but a left orbital bone fracture forced the latter to withdraw from the bout. Now recovered from the injury, the fight has been rescheduled, as the British will exchange sides and be the host to the Brazilian Lineker on October 26th at Manchester, England, on the UFC’s 30th edition of its “Fight Night” events.
The 23-year-old Lineker remained on the UFC 163 card and battled with newcomer and fellow countryman Jose Maria, winning by TKO in the 2nd round. It marked the third straight victory inside the UFC for the “Hands of Stone”, who asked for a shot at the title during his post-fight interview.
The title shot will have to wait for now, as Lineker will have his hands full with Harris. The 30-year-old was on a 5-fight win streak before dropping his UFC debut to Darren Uyenoyama on October 5th via rear-naked choke. Harris then rebounded with a unanimous decision victory over Ulysses Gomez on February 16th at UFC on Fuel TV 7.
“UFC Fight Night 30″ is set to go down on October 26th at the Manchester Arena, in Manchester, England.
