John Dodson aims to be first ever 3-division champion | UFC NEWS

By Evan Stoumbelis

John “The Magician” Dodson has set his sights on becoming the UFC’s first ever 3 division champion. As the 28-year-old Albuquerque native prepares for his January 26th title fight against Demetrius Johnson he spoke about his quest to be the first ever 3 division champion.

“I want to hold all those three titles at 125, ’35 and ’45. If I can do that, that would be amazing. Then I can die a happy man.”

The energetic 125-pounder who won The Ultimate Fighter Team Bisping vs Team Miller at bantamweight back in 2010, has fought as his as 155 pounds, and walks around at 156 pounds.

“I truly am a little fat kid,” he joked.

So far no man has been able to accomplish the task of being a tri-division champion, with Randy Couture and our very own BJ Penn coming close with becoming two division champions.

Dodson is undefeated at flyweight, going 2-0, most recently defeated Jussier Formiga in October to earn a shot at 125 pound champion Demetrius Johnson January 26th at the United Center in Chicago Illinois for UFC on Fox 6.

  1. Sasquatch says:

WHAT?!… try winning one belt before you start talking.

  2. Reality says:

Not gonna happen… Possibly 1(even though I think Mighty Mouse takes it most likely) but definitely not 2 or 3.

  3. Plowboy says:

    Sounds like Brandon Vera…

    • Calvin says:

difference was brandon vera had a way better shot before contract issues and such ruined his career but point is no ones doing that shit let alone hold two belts at once

  4. Brandon.D says:

You can’t knock the guy for having dreams and goals I hope he does it that would be cool to see.

  5. me says:

He might be able to have those 3 belts. Seems like he packs a punch and is really fast. Curious to see how he would do against a healthy Cruz. I see him taking the belt from might mouse.

  6. Nando says:

I’d bet my freedom he wouldn’t be able to do it.

  7. chris says:

It is definitely cool to have goals and dreams and all that, but if your talking about 3 belts you definitely should win one first. I think he is a pretty decent fighter but DJ is one of the most underrated fighters in all of MMA. I personally would like to see him shut Dodson up, and maybe rematch Cruz at some point.

  8. THE INUK says:

I like this dude a lot… but he needs to try winning 1 belt first before he starts talkin’ about shit like this..

  9. Time To Wrestle says:

He might think he can do it and I wish him luck. I just hope someone knocks that shit-eating grin off of his face…Lol.
