Joe Lauzon Wont Make The Same Mistake As Barboza And Allow Varner To Make A Name Off Him | UFC News
By Jamie McAllister
Joe Lauzon comments in an interview with Yahoo Sports.
Lauzon was originally set to face the Brit Terry Etim however Etim withdrew from the bout due to injury and was replaced by Jamie Varner.
At UFC 146 back in May Varner stepped in to face the highly touted Edson Barboza in place of the injured Evan Dunham on short notice. Varner upset the odds and finished Barboza in the first round however Lauzon has no plans to make the mistake Barboza did and allow the former WEC Champion to make a name off him.
“It is much easier for me to have better training partners to prepare for [Jamie Varner] than for Etim, who is long, rangy, and an awkward striker. It was hard to find guys to spar the same way as him, all herky jerky. But I have a bunch of guys at my gym who are 5’9, 5’10 and are good wrestlers and good boxers. Varner is a higher ranked guy, the former WEC champ and Barboza is a huge name to have a win over. Varner had a huge win where he stepped in on short notice. I don’t want him to make another name off of me.”

Big lauzon fan! I hope he gets the win!
Varner is gonna smash him. That’s what I want and that’s what Varner deserves
no.

What do you think about this crap they jammed down our throats?I personally think its BS.
Man Varner blew trough barboza holy shit I mean Varner is a vet but damn he came to make a statement.cant wait for this one.the whole fox card is stacked.
stacked??
yeah dumbass, problem?
Are u even a fan of mma???yeah stacked ****face.and it’s free
I think arguably Varner has done more than Lauzon will ever do in MMA getting a WEC belt and beating Barboza ….. Lauzon got crushed in his last fight and got lucky vs. Guillard so he better watch out for Varner !
Lauzon is nice dude.and that fight with Melvin wasn’t luck dude he timed that punch perfectly when Melvin was rushing in.varner has done much more in the sport I agree but this fight will not be one sided.a barn burner for sure.
Timed it perfectly with his eyes closed! Varner will mop JLo badly, if he’s still doing whatever he did to prepare for Barboza it should be a quick one.
No it won’t. Barboza and Jlau are two different fighters. He wouldn’t be prepared at all
You are a retard!!!
Lauzon FTW
Going w jlau on this one. Varner shocked the world putting away barboza but I don’t see it happening twice. Regardless, it looks to be a good night of fights – fo free!
J-Lo (gayest nickname in MMA) is getting knocked out. If Varner can knock out Barboza the Joe ain’t got a chance. But could be a good fight.
you sir are so ****ing stupid its not even funny
j-lau!!
Lauzon knocked out Jens Pulver in his PRIME. when he was a nobody..He’s got great striking, and great submissions. He’s a solid fighter who doesn’t talk a lot of shit… Look at his record..he’s beaten some really solid fighters. Feel free to underestimate him.
check out his complete record.
