Joe Lauzon Sounds Off On Fighter Pay: ‘I Couldn’t be happier’

“We’re paid fighters, so getting in to the UFC doesn’t mean you’re gonna have this cushy job. You get paid based on how your performance goes. I’ve been very fortunate where I have had some great fights and I’ve been rewarded with some bonuses. I couldn’t be happier with the pay structure. It all comes down to people wanting to see you fight.”

In a recent interview with The Metro South Morning Show, top UFC lightweight, Joe Lauzon gave his take on the UFC’s pay structure.

Since joining the UFC in 2006, Joe has received 11 ‘Fight Night” bonuses, which is currently second highest next to Anderson Silva.

    and that won’t change.

I’ve met Joe in the public and he’s a good dude. I enjoy watching him fight, too! All the best to him…

I completely agree with the way the UFC pays its fighters. Its like any other sport. In the NBA NFL and MLB there are incentives to earn money (record so many tackles, hit a certain amount of pitches etc..) I also find it funny that the only people complaining about pay are the guys who dont go out there and put on a show but the guys who just go out there and survive for 3 rounds.. If you want to make the big bucks make me want to pay to see you fight. I’ll pay to watch guys like Joe Lauzon, Sam Stout, Johnny Hendrix, Cain Velasquez and other fighters who are worth my 60 dollars.

  4. The Way Of The Dutchman says:

It’s simple, he who truly fights for it gets the biggest rewards. Lay n Pray fags get paid less because they aren’t fighting for it but simply abusing the overly wrestling orientated unified rules of MMA.

  5. KIDD433 says:

All the fighters that are bitching about pay need to take notes from this man.
