Jamie Varner Injured – Pat Healy Waits For New Opponent As UFC On FOX 9 Takes Another Hit
The injury bug seems to be viciously attacking the UFC on FOX 9 lineup; Jamie Varner is now off the card as well.
This is the third fight to be removed from next month’s event, after both Anthony Pettis and Kelvin Gastelum dropped out of the card. Varner apparently suffered his injury while training for his showdown with Pat Healy, who as of now is still on the card. UFC officials are actively looking for a replacement opponent for “Bam Bam”.
The tough and durable Healy was looking to score his first victory in the UFC, after his decisive win over the always-tough Jim Miller was overturned, due to Healy testing positive for marijuana. That defeat was followed by a unanimous-decision loss to the quick-rising prospect Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 165.
Varner was also looking to bounce back from a loss, as he most recently dropped a split-decision to Gleison Tibau at UFC 164, the month prior.
Hopefully for the UFC, the injuries end with Varner. Stay tuned, Penn nation.
