By Jake Chastain
| The UFC has called upon a newcomer to step in and face Sam Stout at next month’s UFC 161 event in Winnipeg.
Former WEC fighter James Krause (19-4 MMA, 0-0 UFC) has been announced as the UFC’s replacement for the injured Isaac Vallie-Flagg (14-3-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC).Vallie-Flagg’s injury was announced by the UFC in the early hours of Wednesday morning and just a few short hours later the company had solved the solution and scheduled a replacement.
UFC 161 takes place June 15 at MTS Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
Krause will make his UFC debut against a company veteran in Sam Stout. Krause, is no stranger to the sport. He went 0-2 in the WEC in 2009 and has since fought in organizations such as Bellator and Titan FC. He is currently riding a seven-fight win streak that included a recent decision victory over Bellator vet Toby Imada at RFA 6. Seventeen of his 19 pro wins have come via stoppage.
Stout is coming off of a split decision victory over Strikeforce vet Caros Fodor at UFC 157. The six-time UFC fight-night bonus winner is 2-2 in his last four fights and is looking to put together a nice winning streak. That all starts on June 15th at UFC 161 as he faces off against the UFC newbie in Kraus.
