Jacob Volkmann signs with World Series of Fighting promotion | MMA News

Jacob Volkmann (15-4 MMA, 6-4 UFC) has found a new home inside the MMA world, as it was announced today that the veteran lightweight has signed with the upstart World Series of Fighting promotion. Terms of the multi-fight deal were not disclosed.

Jacob Volkmann and Jon Fitch were two of the more well known fighters recently released by the UFC organization. The UFC decided to axe Volkmann after his most recent loss to Bobby Green at UFC 156. This after Volkmann had gone 6-4 inside the octagon and 6-2 in his past eight UFC bouts.

During his time in the octagon, Volkmann earned victories over notables Danny Castillo and Efrain Escudero. Volkmann earned 5 of his 6 UFC wins by way of judges decision and many fans feel he would have avoided the axe if it weren’t for his wrestling oriented “smother” style offense.

Volkmann is likely to debut at WSOF 3 in April of 2013. Stay tuned to for further updates.

All we can hope for at this point is Fitch doesn’t sign the offer made by WSOF.

I had high hopes for WSOF until I heard they were interested in signing Fitch.

Now that they have signed Volkmann it would be a very bad decision to ever schedule both Fitch and Volkmann on the same card. I think it would be very dangerous for any of the fans that need to drive home after the event to have gotten a double dose of AMBIEN. Fitch needs to just crawl bad to Indiana with his tale between his legs and know he will always be remembered as the most boring miserable excuse for a lay n pray artist that ever set foot in a cage and MMA will leap foward into popularity with fan numbers never thought possible while Fitch was single handedly dragging the sport into the ground. UFC lost millions having Fitch employed with them all that time. No fighter in history of MMA had more fans hate him than JOn Fitch.

Supposely Fitch flew to Japan to talk with One Fc or DReam or someone. Perfect will work exactly into what Fitch has done his entire career in fighting much much smaller opponents who don’t cut weight and he can lay on them and keep his name he will have until he dies Jon “LAY N PRAY” Fitch. I think Fitch wants to avoid a much much better wrestler and athlete in Aaron Simpson who has already signed with WSOF in Vegas. WSOF has a friggen awesome main stream T.V. deal with CBS so its obvious Fitch is doing the same thing as he did last summer when he used a minor B.S in jury to get out of fighting Aaron Simpson in UFC. Fitch has a size advantage on Simpson ans he is still avoiding him because he knows damn well Simspon is a superior wrestler and has a big right hand. Fitch avoids better wrestlers like the plague

Yikes, what did Fitch do to you? Steal your girlfriend? Fitch fought guys like GSP and Hendricks, I don’t think he’s ducking anyone.

I’m happy to see him get signed. He’s one of the best 170lb fighters in the world, and should be in the UFC Hall of Fame one day. He’ll put on a great fight when he steps into the cage.

Volkmann is legit too, both great signings by the WSOF. And their deal is with NBC, not CBS, by the way.

That’s handy. WSOF had not enough pissbreak fighters yet. They should sign Fitch too.
