Jacare vs Brunson Expected For August Strikeforce Event | MMA NEWS

A middleweight tilt featuring Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza and Derek Brunson is slated to go down on Strikeforce’s August main fight card.
A source close to the situation has confirmed the rumored fight.
Souza (15-3) is a former Strikeforce Champion and is looking to gain some ground in the middleweight division and earn a title shot in the near future. Souza has won five of his last six fights, with his only loss coming to Luke Rockhold at StrikeForce: Barnett vs Kharitonov. “Jacare” is coming off a submission victory in his previous bout against Bristol Marunde.
Derek Brunson (9-1) however, is entering the fight off of a Split Decision loss via the hands of Kendall Grove. Before the loss, Brunson was undefeated in his professional career and is looking to get back to his winning ways against a very tall order in Souza.
The fight is expected to go down August 18th also featuring a confirmed fight between Ronda Rousey and Sarah Kaufman for the women’s bantamweight title.
