‘Jacare’ Believes Strikeforce Fighters Are Headed Towards UFC Gold

Jacare Souza is on a four first round finish win streak. Most recently the complete destruction of Yushin Okami by knockout and Chris Camozzi via arm- triangle. His victories prior too happening under the Strikeforce banner.

He hopes to keep the momentum going as he comes into the new year and faces off against Francis Carmont this Saturday for UFC Fight Night 36, Machida vs. Mousasi, which takes place at Arena Jaragua in Santa Catarina, Brazil.

Jacare’s plan is to go in and do what he’s been doing and finish his opponent as quickly as possible. However, he knows that it may not be that easy. He admits that Carmont is a challenging opponent and is prepared to go all three rounds.

Carmont has currently gone 6-0 while fighting under the Zuffa banner.

Jacare is well aware of the dangers that Carmont presents and is in no way underestimating Carmont or comparing him to his past opponents.

Hoping to mimic the same success that he found in Arena Jaragua when he finished Chris Camozzi last spring the hard hitter and well versed grappler has been making sure to sharpen his skills and add new tools to his box as he enters this challenging bout.

Though he is clearly focused on the task at hand, Jacare has high hopes to stop the rotten luck former Strikeforce champs have had as they make a run at UFC gold. With the likes of Miesha Tate, Gilbert Melendez, Jake Shields, and Nick Diaz all coming up short when they took on the champ Souza hopes to be the variance.

However, Jacare doesn’t have faith only in himself as a former Strikeforce champion with what it takes to be a UFC champ. He also shouted out another former Strikeforce champ that has been doing fantastically since being entered into the UFC roster in Robbie Lawler as he is scheduled to face off against Johnny Hendricks to unify the UFC welterweight title in the near future.

“The Strikeforce guys are doing great in the UFC. They didn’t win a title yet, but it’s just a matter of time. Robbie Lawler is here to prove it. It’s just a matter of time.” said Souza.

But, first things first as Souza will have to get through Carmont this weekend.

Robbie was in the UFC before Strikeforce was even conceived…

    • Jon says:

So was Diaz, what’s your point?

      • 雑草 says:

My point is “ex-Strikeforce” fighters aren’t doing as well as Jacare likes to think.

        • brainy guy says:

And how’s Robbie doing atm numnuts?

        • 雑草 says:

          Dear imbecile,
He is doing great but he already had experience on how everything in the UFC works (he fought for the MW title vs Tanner back in UFC 50).
That means that he doesn’t qualify as “ex-strikeforce” (people who come from strikeforce to the UFC).
If anything he is a UFC fighter that had a slump and settled with lesser organisations.

Simple enough for you or do you need me to break it down in smaller words?
