International Scene | Barnett out, Linderman in At CWFC Fight Night 5

CHRIS BARNETT has been forced to withdraw from his main event clash with Bobby Brents at CWFC Fight Night 5 in Amman due to a foot injury, but Cage Warriors is pleased to announce that it has secured a high-caliber replacement.

Brents (12-2-0) will now take on former Bellator heavyweight DJ Linderman (pictured) in the Jordanian capital on Thursday night, in a fight that could potentially be a number one contender bout for a shot at recently-crowned CWFC heavyweight champion Mike ‘300’ Hayes.

Adding further intrigue to the situation is the fact that Hayes will be present at the New Boxing Arena on Thursday, and there’s been no shortage of animosity between Linderman (10-3-0) and ‘300’ since Linderman’s decision victory over the latter in May 2009.

Linderman, a 28-year-old from California, defeated Raphael Davis in Bellator’s eight-man heavyweight tournament last year, before suffering a split decision loss to Richard Hale at Bellator 42.

“It’s never nice to lose a fighter through injury, and we wish Chris Barnett a speedy recovery,” said Cage Warriors director Graham Boylan. “But I’m delighted to be bringing in someone of DJ Linderman’s quality and this is guaranteed to be an exciting scrap with Bobby Brents.”
