Herschel Walker not fininshed with MMA, Wants One Fight In The UFC | MMA NEWS
And he would love for that final lap to end in the UFC’s octagon
The 51-year-old Walker was on The LaVar Arrington Show with Chad Dukes on 106.7 The Fan. During the appearance, the football legend said he hasn’t officially called it quits on his MMA career, but the time is coming close.
“I would love to do it again. I absolutely love MMA. I think it’s an excellent sport,” Walker said. “I’m a little bit older and having to work a little bit harder. I tell people all the time, if you want to do this sport, you got to get out and you got to train. You can’t just step out there and think you’re going to fight in that cage because a lot of those guys are trained to hurt you. If I was younger, I would be doing it right now. Because I’m a little bit older and I have a business going, I would like to do one more fight and then, I think, it’s time for me step aside and give it to the young people. But I would love to do one more fight.”
Later in the interview, Walker said he would love to have his last fight be in the UFC.
Walker jumped into professional MMA with Strikeforce, going 2-0 with wins over Greg Nagy and Scott Carson, both by TKO.
A legendary workhorse and a taekwondo black belt, Walker trained at the American Kickboxing Academy in California alongside teammates Cain Velasquez and Daniel Cormier.
