Henderson vs. Rua Confirmed As UFC 139 Main Event, Number One Contender Bout

UFC president Dana White confirmed with the media in attendance at today’s UFC 135 pre-fight press conference that the recently announced Henderson vs. Rua fight will serve as the main event in San Jose California.
Additionally, the winner is likely to get a title shot after Rashad Evans gets his stab at this weekend’s winner.
“It would be tough not to give the winner of that fight the next shot after Rashad,” said the UFC president.
UFC 139 is set to take place on November 19th at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California. With the original heavyweight title fight headliner between champ Cain Velasquez and Junior Santos moving from UFC 139 to UFC on FOX 1 the organization has decided to go with a non-title affair between Dan Henderson and “Shogun” Rua as the evenings featured attraction.
Rua just took out Forrest Griffin in the UFC Rio co-main event; it was his first appearance and victory since losing his title to Jon Jones.
Henderson returns off the heels of his heavyweight victory over Fedor Emelianenko under the Strikeforce banner. At 41-years old Henderson was able to capture the Strikeforce crown with a punishing knockout victory over Rafael Feijao this past March at Strikeforce Columbus.

That’s gonna be a great fight! However, come on…wtf happened to Machida. He hasn’t fought since Couture UFC 129. I would not like to believe that Dana is holding a grudge against him for asking for $. But seriously, just before RIO, all the top LHWs were already fighting. & now, Machida is still left in the dark. Lil Nog is fighting Ortiz. Rashad is gonna fight the winner of Jones & Rampage. Shogun is gonna fight Hendo. Griffin, I see is the only real challenger. Some might say Phil Davis or Bader, but imho I think they still have some work to do. I also would like to see some change and not a former opponent, but you can’t always get what you want right? So, I don’t know. Just something to think about.
at this rate f*ck it throw rich franklin just give him a fight damn i actually enjoy his karate style its refreshing
MORON
Machida fukkd up not taking the rashad fight and pissd Dana off. Hendo and Shogun are scrappers anytime any place!
IT WOULD MAKE SENSE FOR FOREST TO FIGHT LYOTO SINCE THEY BOTH HAVE LOSSES TO SHOGUN BUT LET FOREST GET ONE WIN AGAIN FIRST.
what? forest aint got shit on machida. horrible match up.
i dont think forest has anything to offer the elite of the division anymore. like rich franklin who everyone loves also he just cant compete with the top tier guys of the division. i think machida v davis makes the most sense.
Seriously, what is going on with Machida? Lets not talk down against him because he asked his boss for more money, hek I do that everyday! Besides I hope it was not his manager who asked for more money becasue is it not the same manager who manages Anderson? I hope it was not the manager asking for money because he knows what anderson gets. Just for the record Machida is worth every penny! His only real loss came against vintage Rua!
