Henderson Plans To See What Jones Is Really Made Of At UFC 151 | UFC News
By Jamie McAllister
Former PRIDE and Strikeforce Champion Dan Henderson comments in an interview with MMAWeekly.
In his next bout in the UFC 151 main event Henderson faces Jon Jones for the UFC Light-Heavyweight title. Going into the bout Henderson feels like he is being overlooked however he admits it doesn’t bother him and intends to take his opportunity.
“I’m sure I’ve been overlooked and it doesn’t bother me, and I don’t mind at all. I know that I have a date to fight him and I’m going to make the best of it,”
The champion Jones has looked unstoppable tearing his way through the Light-Heavyweight division finishing six of his last seven bouts. However Henderson thinks Jones does a number of things he can capitalize on.
“There’s a number of things that I think I can capitalize on, but again it’s a matter of me making sure I stick to my game plan and fighting my fight,”
Jones has stated in the build-up to the fight Henderson may have to worry about his one-punch knockout power. Henderson admits he would love Jones to come out swinging for the knockout but thinks when fight time comes Jones will be looking to take him down.
“I would definitely like for him to come out and try to knock me out, because I wouldn’t have to chase him around that way, but I’m pretty sure he’s going to come out and try to take me down. He’s going to want to try and put me on my back, try to get me tired doing that,”
Jones has used his huge reach expertly in his UFC career and has taken little damage as a result . Henderson plans to put Jones under pressure and plans to see what the champion is really made of.
“Maybe he can take a pretty good punch, maybe he bounces back after getting beat up for a little while, who knows,” said Henderson. “I’m definitely planning on seeing what he really is made of.”

For sure!
He is made of all the tools to dominate Dan Henderson.
Hendo knows what jones is made of, he’s fought the spider before. Bones is just a bigger and younger version of anderson the spider silva. I don’t see how henderson is going to deal with that.
Mate, Henderson has an iron chin and can walk through punches to take his opponent down. I think this will be Jones’ toughest test he’s had. Jones is incredible for sure, but Hendo is a legend, and I really want to see the old man knock out this young upstart, that no matter what kind of image he tries to create for himself, everyone can see that he has no respect for the history of the sport and thinks he is the GOAT. I really want to see Hendo take Jones down a peg or two.
What?!?!?!? Jones and Silva have completely different styles!!!!!!!!!
Guarantee he doesn’t take him down. Jones will get in tight, waste him down against the cage, release and pop out with elbows then come back to the cage again. Round 4 or 5 he will open up, probably get a TKO or go to a decision.
Hendo!Hendo!Hendo!thats what Jones is goin to hear when greg jackson wakes his ass up!
The great thing about the UFC is that champions are not champions for long. Except if your the great Anderson Silva.
I got Hendo by 2nd round KO and the biggest upset of the year.
Wow that’s a big call mate would be very surprised if that happens but anything is possible in sport.
People fail to realise that the dominating fashion in which Jon Jones has won a lot of fight is due to his ability to cut his opponents. By doing so they often chance/modify there game plan to protect the injury (Rampage and Machida).
Dan Henderson doesn’t cut that easily at all so Jone will need to Dominate him for 25mins and avoid his knock out power which is rather difficult to do for 25 minutes Hendo has the ability to beat any LHW
Are you serious I suppose Brandon Vera was cut o thats right he broke his skull . Dan will need the Ref to save him on this on for sure..No Ref = Dan Dead
Where is this “KO Power” that Dan supposedly has? He has ONE KO in the UFC this century. If he had so much power, where was it in the Shogun fight, where he shouldn’t have won? (Should have been a draw, or a 10-7 round 5 and Shogun win,IMO) He couldn’t finish Shogun, so now everyone thinks he will magically defeat the undefeated Jones?????
I am telling you, Hendo has been a great fighter, but his “power” is an invention of mouths. He has 16 KO’s in over 40 fights. That is a lousy KO percentage. Chill out, folks.
Bones is gunna tear dudes face up, jake shields beat hendoXD Hendo im sorry but ur just gunna show the world that ur to old for this sport:/
We know wat Dans made of …Good ald fanshioned Steroids ….
if Jones wins hopefully he’ll move up to heavyweight where his ****** ass belongs… with those ape arms and shit
Shyat
Please let this be a war. Hell I can’t wait to see what jones decides to do, and I wanna see Hendo slinging that H-bomb. And for chael sonnen that is still gonna diss bones after he wins.
