Henderson On Thomson’s Terrible Camp: ‘That’s Life’
“I’m a pretty self-motivated person,” said former UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson when he hear of Josh Thomson’s claims that he had the worst fight camp of his life prior to their fight this weekend. “ I don’t need certain things, scenarios, circumstances to get me motivated. The way I am, the way I’m wired, I don’t care about the distractions or whatever is in the way of me and the fight. I’m always going to be highly motivated.”

When former UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson steps into the Octagon this Saturday at UFC on FOX 10, he will be facing a man who has admitted to coming out of the worst fight camp of his life.
But that doesn’t matter in the slightest to Henderson.
“It just makes me think, ‘that’s life,’” Henderson told FOX Sports regarding Josh Thomson’s claims. “That’s how it works out sometimes. I’ve had some of the worst camps in my life where things didn’t go well lead into some great performance. I’ve had some training camps go very well and the fight go not so well. I don’t really think it’s that much of an indicator of how someone will perform once the lights are on and the cage door is locked.”
Henderson and Thomson are set to headline UFC on FOX 10 this Saturday in Chicago, Il.
Both men are coming into this fight with something to prove. For Henderson (19-3), he is coming off a loss to Anthony Pettis where he lost his hold of the UFC belt.
Josh Thomson (20-5) is looking to cement his spot atop the lightweight division after losing his title shot against Anthony Pettis when the champion pulled out to have knee surgery.
UFC on FOX 10 takes place this Saturday, January 25. A preliminary bout will stream live on UFC Fight Pass beginning at 4:30pm/1:30pm ETPT, with a preliminary card airing on FOX Sports 1 at 5pm/2pm ETPT. The main card will air live on FOX beginning at 8pm/5pm ETPT.
