Hector Lombard vs. Rousimar Palhares set to headline UFC on FX 6 in Australia | UFC News

By: Chris Taylor
UFC president Dana White announced Friday that a middleweight bout between Rousimar Palhares (14-4 MMA, 7-3 UFC) and Hector Lombard (31-3-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC) will headline UFC on FX 6 in Australia.
The Cuban-Australian, Lombard, is heading back to his adopted country and this fight will mark his 23rd from “the land down under”. The former Bellator middleweight champion will be looking to rebound from a split decision loss he suffered to Tim Boetsch in his UFC debut at UFC 149 in July. That loss snapped a six-year undefeated streak for Lombard.
The dangerous submission specialist, Palhares, will also be looking to get back in the win column following a first-round TKO loss to Alan Belcher at UFC on FOX 3. The loss to Belcher snapped a three-fight win streak for “Toquinho”, as the leg lock specialist had previously defeated Dave Branch, Dan Miller and Mike Massenzio.
UFC on FX 6 is scheduled for December15 in an Australian city and venue still to be determined. The card is also expected to feature the final bouts in the soon-to-debut “The Ultimate Fighter: Australia vs. U.K.” series.
Because of the time difference, the card will take place in Australia on Saturday morning and air live in North America on Friday night. The event’s main card airs live on FX, and preliminary card fights are expected to air on FUEL TV and stream on Facebook.

I heard this news about 14 hours before this article was wrote. This website reallly needs to get more writers.
Before it was ‘wrote’? Maybe you need to go back to school.
Before it was ‘wrote’? Maybe you need to go back to school.
Maybe you need to grow the F up and stop acting like ur a fukkn teacher.. we ain’t in school dickhead.. you F’n NERD
Grow the **** up and use **** instead of F you meathead.
So Lombard loses in one of the most boring fights ever and he gets a main event slot next? Don’t understand your logic UFC.
Dana is still in denial. this guy was supposed to go toe to toe with anderson and beat him by some estimates. i was pretty shocked when not only did he not kock out tim but he then lost. i guess dana is giving him a chance. hope he doesnt **** this one up
I hope toquinho rips off his leg
Battle of the tree stumps!
I think main reason why lombard is headling is cause the fight is in australia where he has a big following as it mentions that australia is his adopted country. Also seems like UFC put to little stocky middleweights against eachother.
Hector said he was hurt last fight, we will see whats up this time, a loss for him will probly warrant a cut.
This is a bad fight for lombard. Classic Judo vs Jiu Jitsu, but Palhares is nothing to play with. They should have thrown Weidman at Palhares, and gave Lombard Akiyama or somebody.
Interesting match up. Other than their records, very similar in many ways. One fight in the UFC doesn’t define a fighter. MOST guys get the jitters. Always. When you’ve been smoking guys for a long time in another organization, and much hype has been tagged on you going to the main organization, that’s a lot of pressure. Some people need one or two fights to get over that.
Hector will win by knockout!
Why did you copy my comment? Fag.
I don”t know what the judges saw, i thought Lombard did enough to win his fight against Tim… It’ll be tough for Palhares to take this to the ground, Lombard by TKO/KO R1
Battle of the buff lil sawed off pricks
Lombard was robbed by the judges. Boetsch in no way did enough to get the win.
That being said, Lombard’s performance was horrible. Absolutely horrible, but it was good enough to get the win if the judges knew what they were doing.
Battle of the hobbits
I wouldn’t trip on him headlineing. It’s a free card, why the **** would Dana put on a decent headliner? We all know (or should at least) Dana isn’t going to put his best fighters out there for ‘free’. Lol, it’s Dana White, you forgot? Should be an easy fight for Hector.
