Hatsu Hioki Set to Meet Darren Elkins at UFC on FS1: 2

By JAKE CHASTAIN

| BJPenn.com gained word this morning that a featherweight bout between Hatsu Hioki and Darren Elkins has been added to the UFC on Fox Sports 1: 2 card, which is set to take place on August 28th in Indianapolis, Indiana at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse. ESPN.com first confirmed the booking.

Both men will be looking to get themselves back into the win column with a victory in this scrap at the end of the summer.

Hatsu Hioki (26-6-2) was once considered one of the biggest threats to featherweight champion Jose Aldo’s crown when he signed with the UFC in 2011. Hioki defeated George Roop and Bart Palaszewski in his first two UFC appearances but has dropped two straight losses since then; back-to-back decisions to Ricardo Lamas and Clay Guida. Hioki is still a dangerous fight for any featherweight in the organization and Elkins will surely have his hands full.

Darren Elkins (16-3) will look to string some more wins together following his first round KO loss to Chad Mendes in his last fight at UFC on FOX 7 this past April. Beofre that Elkins wsa riding a five-fight winning streak and will look to start another tear with a win of Hioki. Elkins is also considered one of the more talented and dangerous fighters in the UFC’s featherweight division.

Elkins and Hioki are both still legitimate contenders in the UFC featherweight stables but a win is essential for both men in keeping that contention alive. This could arguably be one of the most exciting fights of the night come August 28th. UFC on FS1: 2 is scheduled to be headlined by a welterweight rematch between top contenders Carlos Condit and Martin Kampmann.
