"UFC on FUEL TV 2: Gustafsson vs. Silva" Preliminary Card Results & Recap

The UFC on FUEL TV 2 preliminary card delivered on entertainment and finished fights.

If you missed the facebook live stream have no fear we have a brief recap and results for you below.

Jason Young vs. Eric Wisely:
In the first bout of the evening Jason Young was able to outpoint Eric Wisely in route to a unanimous decision victory. The two featherweights kicked off the action with a good display of evenly matched striking in the first. However it was Young who initiated the takedown and took Wisely down to the mat several timed throughout the course of the three round fight. This was the notable difference and the reason why the judges gave him the unanimous decision.
Jason Young def. Eric Wisely via unanimous decision (30-28, 29-28, 29-28).

Simeon Thoresen vs. Besam Yousef:
The second bout of the evening saw the night’s first finish. Referee Marc Goddard took center stage to start the action and the two fighters wasted no time getting thing started. In the end it took two rounds for Simeon to secure a rear naked choke over Besam, but throughout the fight the two put on a show and a great display of well-rounded mixed martial arts skills.

Simeon Thoresen def. Besam Yousef via submission (rear-naked choke) – Round 2, 2:36.

Yoislandy Izquierdo vs. Reza Madadi:
From the second this fight starts it is clear that Madadi had the support of his hometown crowd. Throughout the fight Madadi worked and looked to initiate clinch, ground and choke work until he was successful in the second frame of action to earn the win.

Reza Madadi def. Yoislandy Izquierdo via submission (guillotine choke) – Round 2, 1:28.

Francis Carmont vs. Magnus Cedenblad:
In this bout Carmont worked for the takedown early but got caught in the web of his opponent where he eventually lost position and ended the round with his back being taken and nearly choked out. He weathered the first round storm and came back in the second to dish out plenty of damage from the ground before locking in the rear naked choke and putting an end to the bout.

Francis Carmont def. Magnus Cedenblad via submission (rear-naked choke) – Round 2, 1:42

Tom DeBlass vs. Cyrille Diabate:
Not much notable action to speak of in the first round. DeBlass successfully got the fight to the ground early in the first round and with a minute left was able to work his way to side control but mounted literally no offense from the dominant position. In the second DeBlass grabbed a leg early and took Cyrille back down but Diabate was able to get back up and secure a takedown of his own. He however was able to mount offense and land some significant strikes from top position to get back in the fight. In the third Diabate won the fight everywhere it went, both in the striking and grappling exchanges and after a first round that looked like he was outmatched Diabate earned a comeback victory via decision.

Cyrille Diabate def. Tom DeBlass via majority decision (29-28, 29-28, 28-28)

Papy Abedi vs. James Head:

In the final preliminary card bout Head came out swinging crisp and accurate punches. I think the onslaught caused Abedi to grab a leg and take the fight to the ground. With about a minute left the two got back up to the feet, Head landed strong punches that dropped Abedi and he followed him to the ground where he quickly transitioned to mount, got his back and choked him out.

James Head def. Papy Abedi via submission (rear-naked choke) – Round 1, 4:43
