GSP Won’t Let Media Tear Apart Friendship With MacDonald
Georges St. Pierre isn’t impressed with the way the media is trying to drive a wedge between he and his buddy.
Ever since Rory MacDonald defeated Jake Ellenburger over the weekend, the call for these two Tri Star training partners to someday square off has been beckoning.
Rory brushed off the notion during post-fight interviews and GSP did the same on Monday during a UFC media stop in Las Vegas.
“Rory and I are friends, I don’t know what to say. I’m friends with Rory you know?” St. Pierre said. “We text, we call each other, we’re friends.”
When asked “what if Rory MacDonald changes his mind and says he’ll fight you?” GSP blew through the question like double leg takedown.
“This is that hypothetical world, the reporters you guys want a story to make a conflict happening between me and Rory. It’s not going to happen. Rory and I are tight, we’re friends. There’s many ways of doing this. Maybe I might go up, maybe he might go up, there’s many other options. I have plans for my career. I cannot tell you everything, guys. There are other things. I don’t want to fight Rory.”
Like much in the “what if” world of MMA, this could all be a moot point.
GSP fights No. 1 contender Johny Hendricks at UFC 167 on Nov 16.
